[20:17] <Bynw> [22:18] <Dr_Cross> "Aerv, Is a jump Adept just fatigued? Or can he be injured or killed in the process?"
[20:17] <Bynw> [22:21] <Ken> ::to Aerv while writing down some notes about power frequencies in the panel:: "Is your cloak also psionic? Or is it Technologically done?"
[20:17] <Bynw> [22:21] <Bynw> *Aerv* "He can be injured or even die jumping or attempting to jump a ship."

[20:18] <Bynw> *Aerv answers Ken* "It is technologically done."
[20:20] <Raith> "Can you show our engineer how Aerv?"
[20:21] <Bynw> "He can be shown of course. But your ship doesn't have the necessary componants to make it work." *Aerv replies*

[20:24] <Bynw> *Aerv* "Our people will begin making arrangents to contact the Alliance and petition for membership within it. We are honored that you have come."
[20:24] <Raith> ::Looks a bit disappointed:: "Damn. It seems that the alliance is somewhat behind your technology."
[20:25] <Raith> "I believe the honor will be the Alliance's."
[20:26] <Raith> "Do you know anything else about the man you call Raith?"
[20:26] <Sathara> "Not that this is my department, but could we fit our ship with the necessary components?"
[20:27] <Bynw> *Aerv* "Yes. It would take several months to do so. But we did it 40 years ago."
[20:28] <Raith> ::Looks surprised:: "For this other Raith?"
[20:28] <Sathara> "Cap'n, if it can be done and they're willing to help us out that way, it sure would be helpful to have that kind of cloaking capability."
[20:29] <Sathara> "I mean, I know I'm Ms. Itchy Trigger Finger, but it's nice to be able to shoot from cover or approach unseen if we can."
[20:29] <Raith> ::Nods to Sathara:: "Or watch a bit before we make contact."
[20:29] <Sathara> "Exactly."
[20:30] <Raith> "You gave this technology to your Raith 40 years ago Aerv?"
[20:30] * Sathara grins. "And I bet Ken is just dying to get his hands on some new toys like that."
[20:30] <Bynw> *Aerv* "Yes for Raith. It's not completely foolproof, you can be detected."
[20:31] <Raith> "How?"
[20:34] <Raith> ::Turns to his crew:: "If they showed this Raith, then he never gave the tech to the alliance. Nor did he share his star charts. Yet he knew of the alliance."
[20:34] <Bynw> "If you maneuver too quickly or if the others scanning systems are simply better. And you have to decloak to use any weapons."
[20:36] <Raith> "Did this Raith ever say where he was from?"
[20:37] <Bynw> "He only said he was from the Alliance." *Aerv states* "Nothing really more. He showed us several systems and information about the history of the homeworld."
[20:39] <Raith> "Interesting. The alliance has never heard of someone like that Aerv. Is it possible he was lying?"
[20:41] <Bynw> *Aerv* "I would say that possibility is very slim. As I am speaking his language now. And if he was lying, he still gave very accurate information. We are capable of plotting a course to the homeworld of the Alliance. And will do so now that you have come to us."
[20:42] <Raith> "Do you know anything about a race named the 'Klade'?"
[20:44] * Dr_Cross pays close attention at the mention of the "Klade"
[20:44] * Sathara turns intently to the conversation as well.
[20:44] <Bynw> *Aerv* "We haven't heard of them. But you seem to know about them. Are they dangerous?"
[20:47] <Bynw> "There are some other peoples near by to us. And we have established trade with them however."
[20:49] <Sathara> "What kind of trade goods?"
[20:49] <Raith> "The Klade know about you. They actually provided the star charts we needed to find you. I'm not sure if they are dangerous. They claim to be very dangerous and certainly could be if provoked, but they seem to be peaceful; atleast to the alliance."
[20:52] <Bynw> *Aerv takes an interest in Raith's comment* "This is most puzzling. These Klade seem to be aware of us but have not made contact with us. Which is good. The only reason we made any contact with you was due to your ship design. We recognized it as an Alliance ship. Otherwise you would have never seen us and would have hopefully moved on."
[20:52] * Katniss (~Katniss@D49C05.D83F93.8A3EDF.3F7F5F) has joined #teara-adan
[20:53] * Dr_Cross sits closer to Sathara, whispers "That doesn't sound so good"
[20:54] * Sathara whispers to Dr_Cross.  "
[20:54] <Sathara> "Sounds weird at best."
[20:54] <Raith> "The Klade mentioned that you where...well isolationists." ::smiles::
[20:54] <Bynw> "They make some fine textiles and some foodstuffs we find interesting to our palates. We intern help them technologically and provide a distilled beverage which they find to highly enjoy."
[20:55] <Bynw> *Aerv tilts his head for a moment and gets a slight grin* "Now you are wearing Raith's smile."
[20:56] <Raith> ::He perks up at the mention of 'distilled beverage':: "Did you know him personally Aerv?"
[20:56] * Dr_Cross whispers back "I don't trust the Klade one bit" *grinds teeth
[20:56] * Sathara whispers, "Me neither, and I'm not sure how much I trust this cat, either."
[20:58] <Bynw> "Yes I did." *Aerv resumes the holographic image from the table again showing the older Raith and his ship. And several of Aerv's people around and coming and going from it. He zooms in on one of them, and it looks exactly like Aerv* "That is me."
[20:59] <Bynw> *the image and the man haven't aged a day by the looks of it*
[20:59] * Sathara raises her eyebrows.
[21:01] <Raith> "How old are you Aerv?"
[21:02] <Bynw> *Aerv* "127 years old. Yes as the older Raith once asked. We are long lived."
[21:04] <Dr_Cross> "My medical scans confirm their amazing long-livedness, Cap"
[21:05] <Raith> ::Looks impressed and nods to Dr. Cross and Aerv:: "You said something about a beverage Aerv..."
[21:07] <Bynw> *Aerv clicks off the holographic image and rises from his seat. He walks over a nearby counter and goes behind it and pulls out a glass bottle or jar of some kind containing a nearly transparent blue liquid. He pours several glasses, enough for everyone and brings them on a tray to the table* "You would call it an ale."
[21:09] * Dr_Cross takes a glass
[21:10] * Sathara takes a drink as well.
[21:12] <Raith> ::Picks up a glass and holds it up to the light for a moment watching the light play through it, he then puts it to his nose and inhales deeply while swishing the liquor a bit in the glass::
[21:14] <Bynw> *it smells like any ale, but not quiet either ... somethings odd about it but you cant put your finger on it*
[21:15] <Sathara> *roll 4df

[21:15] <Raith> ::Takes a mouthful and slowly swallows::
[21:18] * Dr_Cross takes a sip
[21:19] <Bynw> *it has a bit of sweet metallic taste to it .. but otherwise its alcohol, probably a mix of wheat and corn (like) grains.*
[21:20] <Raith> "Hmmm, odd but good. I like it Aerv."
[21:22] <Raith> "it's luck that your race speaks our language Aerv. Do you have anything that can facilitate communications with alien races? We have other races to meet and greet still."
[21:24] * Sathara takes a cautious sip.
[21:26] <Bynw> "It is not luck Raith. Your forefather taught it to us. And we in turn actually use your language as a trade language with our neighbors. It is remarkably easier to learn than some others. You may take a bottle with you if you like." *Aerv says to Raith*
[21:33] <Raith> "Forefather. Who knows how I am related to this man you knew as Raith."
[21:34] <Raith> "Can you show me the star charts to the race you trade with?"
[21:37] <Raith> "You said it would take months to outfit our ship with your cloaking device. Do you have a ship the Alliance could trade for?"
[21:38] <Bynw> "He came before you. How far or to what extent is unknown. So the term does apply. And yes I can show you the stars." *Aerv again pulls up the holographic projection showing this time a stellar cartography of the area.*
[21:40] <Bynw> *Ken whispers to Raith* "I don't think using one of their ships would be a good idea. The Klade datapad may not interface at all with it and they dont have our jumpdrives"
[21:42] <Dr_Cross> "I agree, the Klade datapad is the lesser of two evils for me"
[21:43] <Bynw> *Aerv* "I think it would take less time to add the cloaking device to your ship than for you to learn to fly one of ours and learn our language to do so."
[21:43] <Sathara> "Not to mention, how would we jump it?  They use psionics to jump."
[21:47] <Raith> ::Nods to his crew:: "I'm not sure we have months to wait." ::Looks to Aerv:: "Would you like us to escort you back to Alliance space?"
[21:51] <Bynw> *he nods* "It would be an great honor. We will need to ready a couple of ships"
