 [18:52] <.Bynw> RECAP:  The adventures have left the employment of Astori Xhyps and have entered into a contract with a local wizards guild to either capture or run off a wayward mage.  Their provisions have been provided by the wizards and they have set off to find the wayward wizards abode....

[18:55] <+Seanna> "The wizard has setup shop in a cottage about 2 miles outside of Paradise City ... on the other side of the Red River."
[18:56] <.Bynw> *Ibon has come along.  Wanting to see this wizard himself.  And feeling better after a good night's rest.*
[18:59] <.Bynw> *In the light of the morning, Ibon has been looking and watching Jenna*
[18:59] <.Bynw> *The ride will only be an hour at best to the wizard's cottage*
[19:00] <+James> "Okay, what do we do when we get there?  Ask him questions and spy on him?  Ask him to leave?  Attack him on sight?"
[19:01] * +Jenna prepares her horse for travel, not being sociable with anyone
[19:02] <+Jenna> ((or travels on the horse quietly, if we are already underway))
[19:03] <+Seanna> "We will have to see what the situation is when we get there.  I would personally prefer to reconnoiter and talk to him...but he may leave us no options"

[19:04] <.Bynw> *ibon* "If this mage is responsible for the attack on my domain then he has already made his choice."
[19:07] <+Seanna> "well, that is one thing we need to find out for sure"
[19:07] <.Bynw> *the adventures cross the Red River by one of the ferries the routine bring passangers from one side to the other.  Then they reach the open and lightly wooded country side outside of Paradise City*
[19:08] <+Seanna> "btw, I am hoping that some of you Deryni have offensive skills?"
[19:10] <+James> "Not me, I'm afraid.  I never had the chance to learn that kind of skills."
[19:10] <+Seanna> "alright...anyone here have any offensive magical or deryni skills?"
[19:10] <.Bynw> *by midmorning you have entered the wooded area that holds the cottage of the wizard ... and can see even see the smoke from his hearth before the seeing or even reaching the cottage*
[19:11] <.Bynw> *Ibon*  "I have some skills and abilities that I will bring down upon this wizard if he is the one who invaded my home"
[19:13] <+Chadmyr> "Well, I do have some minors skill that might help us"
[19:13] <+Chadmyr> if the need arise 
[19:14] <+Seanna> "good, because I can't do it all by myself!"
[19:15] <.Bynw> *Ibon*  "Jenna ... isnt it ... Where did you get that bow you have?"
[19:16] * +Jenna looks up, startled for a moment
[19:16] <+Jenna> what?
[19:17] <+Jenna> "oh this.. I won it"
[19:23] <.Bynw> *Ibon* "It looks like one that my family would craft"
[19:25] <+Jenna> "is your family from Einar?"
[19:25] <.Bynw> *reaching the next rise, the cottage comes into view ... the smoke seen in the distance was not the fire on the hearth ... the the smoldering ruins of the cottage itself*

[19:26] <.Bynw> but there are branches of my family in the Einar/Paradise area"
[19:26] <+Jenna> "hmmmm... oh my!" ((as the ruins come into view))
[19:26] <+Chadmyr> "Smells like trouble "
[19:26] <+Chadmyr> check your hides people
[19:28] <+James> ::jaw drops::
[19:28] * +Chadmyr grabs is bow and readies an arrow.
[19:28] <.Bynw> *Ibon sets spurs to his horse and rides towards the ruins*
[19:29] * +Chadmyr fallows ibon's
[19:29] <+James> ::follows::
[19:29] * +Seanna races up to the cottage
[19:30] * +Jenna readies the bow that Ibon had his eye on and hurries her horse to the scene
[19:31] <.Bynw> *reaching the small cottage.  Ibon dismounts and waits for the others to arrive.  it has been sacked, and the thatch roof is gone and 2 other sides of the structure.*
[19:31] * +Chadmyr dismount and start looking arround. Bow at the ready.
[19:31] * Kanax (~vangard@*.dsl.bltnin.ameritech.net) has joined #Teara-Adan
[19:31] * +Seanna prepares

[19:31] * Kanax rides to catch up.
[19:32] <.Bynw> *there are horse tracks all over the ground in every direction and signs of struggles*
[19:32] <+James> "Looks like somebody beat us here."
[19:32] <.Bynw> *the fire itself is smoldering and burning itself out but it would have been huge a few hours ago*
[19:33] <.Bynw> ?? what do you do ??
[19:33] <+Seanna> "yes, and now the question is whether the wizard is dead or taken by someone else?"
[19:33] <+Chadmyr> :: goes inside of the remaining builting. walking carfuly ::
[19:33] * +Jenna scans for any psychic resonances
[19:33] * Kanax dismounts, and moves to investigate.
[19:35] <+James> ::looks around::
[19:38] * +Seanna proceeds cautiously, seeking out the wizard's distinct signature"

[19:45] <+Seanna> "Ummn, I'm pretty sure that the wizard was involved in a magical battle here, but, I don't know who won yet...we should cautiously investigate further"
[19:46] * +Jenna looks sick to her stomach while looking over the burnt ruins

[19:47] * Kanax looks around the perimiter of the "battle"

[19:50] <+James> "It looks like a mess to me."
[19:51] <+Chadmyr> "I found nothing but a bloody arrow."
[19:51] * Kanax shouts from the distance, "It looks like an army stopped by for a bit."
[19:52] * +Jenna looks up at
[19:52] <+Jenna> Chadmyr
[19:52] <+Chadmyr> "I'll go check outside i might have more luck."
[19:52] * +Jenna goes to examine the arrow
[19:52] <+Jenna> "let me see that please"
[19:52] * Kanax gathers up some arrow bits, as well.
[19:52] <+Chadmyr> :: gives the arrow to Jenna before going out ::
[19:54] * +Seanna goes over to Jenna
[19:54] * +Jenna examines the arrow intently
[19:56] <+Seanna> "anything interesting?"
[19:56] <+Jenna> "it's... my brother's"
[19:59] * Kanax drops the rock he'd just picked up.

[19:59] * +Palamedes rolls the dice for James (d20+3) and rolled 8.
[19:59] <+Jenna> "that's all I can tell for sure"
[19:59] * +Jenna looks up at Seanna bewildered
[19:59] <+Seanna> "may I look at it?"
[20:00] * +Jenna nods and hands it to Seanna
[20:00] * Kanax tromps over to Jenna, "You're sure, lass?"
[20:00] * Bynw sets mode: +v Kanax
[20:00] * +Seanna scans for residual pyschic imprint to see how strong it is
[20:00] <+James> ::looks over at Jenna and listens::

[20:01] * +Kanax frowns

[20:01] * +Palamedes rolls the dice for Chadmyr (d20+7) and rolled 10.
[20:02] <+Chadmyr> "Well nothing much to be found out"
[20:03] <+Chadmyr> to many horse
[20:03] * +Jenna walks away and examines the perimeter of the charred area silently
[20:03] <+James> "Hey, anyone know what this stuff is?  It's getting hard."
[20:03] <+Chadmyr> :: look towards James :: "What stuff"
[20:03] * +Kanax quirks an eyebrow, turning to James.
[20:03] <.Bynw> ! james is futher out in the "yard"
[20:04] <+Seanna> d20+7
[20:04] * +Palamedes rolls the dice for Seanna (d20+7) and rolled 13.
[20:04] * +Jenna whips her head around and runs over to James
[20:04] <+James> "Over here, Chad.  It was gooey a bit ago, but it's hardening."
[20:04] * +Jenna examines the stuff
[20:05] <+Chadmyr> :: goes over james and look at the stuff ::
[20:05] <+Jenna> "I think I know"
[20:06] * +Jenna touches it and examines her fingers
[20:06] <+Jenna> "oh God..."
[20:06] <+Chadmyr> "So any ideas"
[20:06] <.Bynw> *its glossy and slick to the touch*
[20:06] * +Seanna goes over to where Jenna is
[20:07] * +Jenna bursts into tears, sobbing loudly
[20:07] * +Seanna touches Jenna

[20:07] * +Palamedes rolls the dice for Bynw (d20+12) and rolled 13.
[20:07] * +Seanna pulls Jenna into her arms as Jenna cries

[20:08] <+James> ::remains silent, fearing the worst.::
[20:08] <+Seanna> @@he said "die, die, die" to the wizard..that's what I sensed in the arrow@@
[20:08] <.Bynw> *Ibon*  "Whoever rode a horse around this place ... knew what they were doing .... you can't tell a damn thing from the tracks around here." *he throws a chunck of dirt back to the ground and stands up brushing himself off*

[20:09] <+Seanna> ::looks at the stuff that James was talking about::
[20:10] * +Kanax seems lost. He remains quiet, unsure what has happened.
[20:12] * +Jenna calms down after a bit, no tears left in her
[20:12] <+Jenna> "it's... wax"
[20:12] * +Kanax blinks, "Wax?"
[20:13] <+Seanna> who's wax though?
[20:13] <+Seanna> ""

[20:18] * +Jenna turns and shows Kanax the scar on her arm, holding it up for James and the others to see also
[20:18] <+Jenna> "this was caused by a similar fire... wax burns very hot"
[20:18] <James> ::looks:
[20:19] * +Seanna concentrates on the wax and after a bit, shakes her head
[20:19] <+Seanna> "it was magically caused"

[20:20] * +Jenna wipes her eyes a bit, trying to stay in control
[20:21] <James> ::bends down and touches the wax, concentrating::
[20:21] <+Jenna> "this wasn't an accident either"

[20:22] <+Jenna> "I believe that Jaden found... or thought he found... whomever was responsible"
[20:22] * +Kanax wonders aloud, "Do any of the departing tracks look like Jaden's horse?"
[20:22] <+Seanna> "agreed"
[20:23] <+Seanna> "next question is, where is the perpetrator of this evil now?"
[20:23] * +Jenna looks around the charred ruins
[20:23] <+Jenna> "in these ashes, perhaps..."
[20:24] * +Seanna shakes her head...no, I don't think so
[20:24] <+Seanna> "but, I will look"
[20:24] <James> "This was some kind of a creature of way."
[20:24] <James> (wax)
[20:25] * Bynw sets mode: +v James
[20:25] <+James> ::turns to Jenna, speaking softly:: "Your brother stopped it and melted it.  I can't get any more . . . "

[20:27] <+Seanna> "If you want, I can do a more detailed search, but it will take time and will need some preparation"

[20:29] <+Seanna> "does anyone have any utensils, a bowl perhaps?"
[20:29] <.Bynw> *Ibon* "We missed the action by several hours."
[20:29] <+James> "The more we know, the better, Seanna."
[20:30] <+Seanna> a plain silver or copper bowl
[20:30] * +Kanax returns to his horse, and digs through his packs, "Wooden work?"
[20:30] <.Bynw> *Ibon looks oddly at Seanna*  "This isnt the Church you know ... this is the wilderness"
[20:30] <+Seanna> "metal would be better, but wood will work"
[20:31] <+Chadmyr> "Maybe in the rubble, i'll go check" 
[20:31] <+Seanna> ::waits::
[20:31] * +Kanax brings the bowl to Seanna, "Sorry, the stoneware was too much to bring along."
[20:31] <+Chadmyr> :: goes into the burned building and start checking arround ::
[20:32] <+Seanna> "I understand, and thank you"

[20:33] * +Seanna fills up the wooden bowl with water and adds a blackish looking powder from one of her pouches to it"

[20:34] <+Seanna> "yes, lend me your strength....you too Jenna, if you are up to it"

[20:34] <+Jenna> "I apologize, I cannot... I am spent, mentally"

[20:35] * +Thek walks around the perimeter, looking for anything unusual
[20:35] <+Seanna> "ok...Chadmyr and Kanax, please watch out for Jenna as James and I go after this thing"
[20:35] * +Seanna establishes mental contact with James by touching his forearm

[20:41] * +Jenna goes and sits by a tree away from the group, laying her head back on it

[20:41] <+Kanax> :hmphs silently to himself, and moves back to the spot where the wax was found.  He glances over at Jenna, debates going to talk to her, and thinks better of it.

[20:59] <.Bynw> *the event that took place as revealed in the bowl ... Jaden came about this wizard ... and attacked him .. the wizard used his spells to defend himself and sent a creature made of wax against Jaden .... it appears as if they knew one another ....
