[19:20:17] <.Bynw> *The walled city of Deban, like most of the communities of the Territories is the stronghold of a self appointed lord. A man (or woman) of power, influence and muscle.
[19:21:58] <.Bynw> *some such lords claim kinship to the ancient nobles of Abronn as the source of thier title claims. But Mariabronn recognizes no such nobles outside of its own city-state.
[19:27:22] <+Antilles> :: At the tavern known as Gimbal's :: ** A man walks into the bar, dressed in chainmail with red accents on the boots and cuffs.. he has black hair and looks a bit smug, as if he is aggrevated about something. He is Antilles. He sits at the bar, and orders a beer.. dusting himself off as he waits. ** 
[19:28:29] <.Bynw> *he is followed by a half dozen kids all asking him questions about swords, shields and fighting*
[19:30:10] * +Kevin is sitting in Gimbal's and notices Antilles walks in, and recognizes him but just puts his head back down and continues drinking his ale.
[19:30:20] * +Antilles grins as the children flock around him. He gives them rubs on the head, and play fights a bit with them.. then he shooes them out to find home.
[19:31:27] * +Jack rides through the west gate, pauses his horse, and looks around for a place to get a drink and maybe some food. He sees the sign for Gimbal's and heads in that direction.
[19:31:33] <.Bynw> *some of the older boys stay near, watching mimicing every move Antilles makes*
[19:31:46] * +Charissa is having a quiet mid-day meal at the Keep having sat through the boring court that Lord Matea held and is getting ready to entertain the feast-goers later on.
[19:33:17] * +Antilles grins at the older boys, and simply lets them be.
[19:33:53] <+Antilles> :: Antilles' face goes a bit stone once he looks away ::
[19:35:37] * IIsi50MHz has joined #Teara-Adan
[19:36:16] <+Kevin> * is a relatively small man with greasy black hair and grean eyes. He
[19:36:16] <+Kevin> stands a little hunched and moves in small, quick strides. He carries an exotic weapon at his 
[19:36:16] <+Kevin> hip that looks like it would require some intense training. He wears a belt with many different 
[19:36:16] <+Kevin> pockets for many different things.
[19:36:24] * +Jack arrives at Gimbal's, ties his horse somewhere it can eat some hay, and enters the tavern.
[19:37:16] * +Jack is simply dressed in travelling clothes, with a sword in his belt.
[19:39:00] * +Jack goes to the bar and sits down. He orders an ale and some bread and cheese.
[19:39:32] <+Antilles> :: Antilles moves his greatsword out of the way of being stuck towards his chest as he sits.. his deep blue eyes stare into his mug as he seems to be in thought. He is a very musclar young man, as his bulky muscles show even through his chain armor and red and black tunic. ::
[19:39:58] <+Jack> "Great thing about bread and cheese is whatever you don't finish you can take with you."
[19:40:39] <+Antilles> "Where are you headed?" :: Antilles speaks to the man who just entered the tavern ::
[19:41:16] <+Jack> "Nowhere in particular.  I'm just waundering a bit and taking in the scenery."
[19:41:50] <+Antilles> "Hmm,, well, there is a gathering here, in town, tonight.. you might enjoy it."
[19:42:15] <+Jack> "That sounds interesting.  The name's Jack, by the way."
[19:42:40] * +Antilles drops his dour look, and turns to the person calling himself Jack.
[19:43:19] <+Antilles> :: Antilles stands up, and gives a slight bow. "And I am Antilles.. late Sgt. Antilles DeMarakesh, at your service." ::
[19:43:41] <+Jack> "Good to meet you, Antilles."
[19:44:17] <+Antilles> :: Antilles gives a slight grin. :: "And you as well, Jack."
[19:44:38] <+Jack> "What kind of gathering?  Any particular event?"
[19:45:21] <+Antilles> "yes, it is the day called 'The Day of Reckoning', it is a day of settlements of affairs, and then, the Feast."
[19:46:00] <+Antilles> "Be glad your not part of the first event. It can get nasty."
[19:46:18] <+Jack> "Ahhhh . . . I've heard of similar days in other towns.  I gather the settlements are ending about now, then?"
[19:46:33] * +Antilles turns back to retrieve his beer, then resumes his conversation, standing near Jack.
[19:46:55] <+Antilles> "Aye, this is the 'noon rest'."
[19:47:27] <+Antilles> "Where have you traveled from, if I might ask?"
[19:47:31] * +Kevin gets up then walks towards the bar and sits down and orders up another ale
[19:48:43] <+Antilles> "I hear there is much unrest in the Territories.. have you heard any news?"
[19:49:21] * +Kevin chimes in "There is always unrest."
[19:50:00] * +Antilles casts a sideways glance at the one who just spoke.
[19:50:23] <+Antilles> "Oh, and what do you know of that, friend?"
[19:50:43] <+Jack> I just got in from New Hollydale.  But I was just passing through there.  I'm from Adan originally, but i've been travelling all my life and don;t really think of it as home any more."
[19:51:15] * +Antilles turns back to Jack
[19:52:22] <+Jack> "And our friend here is right.  If you look closely enough, there is always unrest."
[19:52:22] <+Kevin> "There seems to always be someone assassinating here, wars being fought there. You would have to be more specific on the 'unrest' you speak of."
[19:53:22] <+Antilles> "Adan, Halifax, and Mariabronn all seek to either take the Territories or place in power those they would choose.. its a bleak time for Deban, and all of the Territories. Thankfully Deban is still indebited to Mariabronn. I think we will not have as much trouble as some of the other cities 'round abouts."
[19:54:32] <+Antilles> "Since Adan declared itself an Empire.. I'm actually uncertain of what is to happen."
[19:55:00] <+Jack> "Hmmm . . . never been to Mariabronn, but i've always been meaning to check it out.  Maybe I'll go up there next."
[19:55:18] * +Antilles puts his hand on his sword's hilt.
[19:56:01] <+Antilles> "I myself have been decomissioned.. I don't actually know what I'm going to do yet."
[19:57:40] <+Jack> "I never know what I'll do next.  I just sorta wait for something to call out to me."
[19:58:21] <.Bynw> *the tavern is beginning to fill itself up as those midday travellers seek shelter from the midday heat
[19:58:30] <+Jack> "This morning, I woke up in New Hollydale and felt a definite call to come to Deban, so here I went."
[19:58:43] <+Kevin> "I go here, I go there, I do this, I do that. I don't do anything specific."
[19:58:51] * +Antilles takes his seat beside Jack with the influx of persons to the bar.
[19:59:46] <+Antilles> "Well, here we are, three persons with nothing to do. What shall we say? Will you all attend the Feast?"
[19:59:58] <+Jack> "Wouldn't miss it."
[20:00:20] <+Kevin> "I might. Food is always good."
[20:01:06] <+Antilles> "Ah, the food is superb, but the women are even better!" :: Antilles gives a wink to Jack and Kevin ::
[20:02:35] <+Kevin> "When does it starT?"
[20:03:06] <+Antilles> "As soon as night falls. The full moon will rise tonight, it is the mark of the celebration."
[20:05:00] <+Antilles> "There are also feats of strength at the feast. Lord Matea entertains many guests, and he is known to participate on occasion himself. Im going to try my hand at sparring.. so far, I am the undefeated champion of swordplay."
[20:05:42] <+Kevin> "I may not be good with a sword, but I consider myself good against a sword."
[20:05:51] <.Bynw> *the noice of the tavern is like a roaring wind, multiple conversations run all over. the tavern is full of new and old faces due to the Day of Reckogning taking place"
[20:06:30] <+Antilles> "Then you should enter one of the contests, Kevin. Axe-Throwing, Archery.. even drinking games are the fare of the night."
[20:07:24] <+Antilles> "Ive seen many a man think he could drink burley Mataan under the table.. and ended up being carried out!"
[20:07:27] <+Kevin> "I'm not really one for games. Too much hype for winning. I'd rather watch and see others."
[20:08:05] <.Bynw> *several of the nights entertainers have gathered to discuss their acts for Lord Matea and several practice a few minor routines while they can within the cool confines of the tavern*
[20:08:20] * +Antilles laughs at his own words
[20:08:37] <+Jack> "I always enjoy watching contests of swordsmanship.  Sometimes you can pick up a trick or two you see someone do."
[20:08:42] <+Antilles> "Fine Kevin, you should enjoy yourself, no matter."
[20:09:29] <+Antilles> "Jack, your not a betting man, are you?" :: Antilles raises his voice to be heard over the cacophony of the crowd ::
[20:09:59] <+Jack> "Not a lot.  Sometimes a little gambling can be fun, though."
[20:11:01] <+Antilles> :: Antilles pats Jack's arm honestly :: "Then you might want to place a wager at the Feast. There are many bets made and lost as well there." :: Antilles winks at Jack ::
[20:11:34] <+Kevin> "And lots of money is probably lot in the exchange, hmm?"
[20:12:06] <+Jack> "Maybe I'll put a little money on you, Antilles.  You seem to have all the confidence."
[20:12:08] <+Kevin> "Lost I mean."
[20:13:05] <+Antilles> "I'm a sure winner, for sure." :: Antilles boasts, but something tells you by the look in his eye that he is not lying ::
[20:14:30] <+Kevin> "We are a bit sure of ourselves aren't we?"
[20:14:50] <+Antilles> "I never lie, Kevin."
[20:15:51] * +Antilles looks very serious for a moment, then a grin over-takes him.
[20:17:11] <+Antilles> "No matter, let me buy you and Jack a beer.. I seem to be running out myself!"
[20:17:23] * +Antilles orders three beers from the barmaid.
[20:17:42] <+Jack> ::turns to Kevin:: "Well, my money is on Antilles.  We'll see tonight, though, won;t we?"
[20:17:57] <+Kevin> "Aye, we will we will."
[20:18:35] <+Kevin> "Antilles, may I inquire as to how you have acquired my name? I do not have any recollection ofmentioning it..."
[20:19:34] <+Antilles> :: Antilles furrows his brow.. then shakes his head :: "Im not sure.. I must have heard it in passing. This IS a small city, after all."
[20:20:19] <+Kevin> "Could be, could be, though I have not been here for that long.?"
[20:20:47] <+Antilles> "Its not really important is it? Kevin IS your name, isn't it?"
[20:21:22] <+Kevin> "Yes, yes, but I calue my privacy as highly as my gold."
[20:21:50] <+Antilles> "Then, I suggest you watch your back. If I know your name, I'm sure others do as well."
[20:22:20] * +Coch A man of average height with a medium build and of ordinary appearance.  Wearing a brown and green patterned cloak over clothes.  Long knife showing at hip, wearing the dusty boots of travel and carrying a worn saddle with rifle and long knife tied off with side straps.
[20:22:31] <+Kevin> ::Clears throat:: "Value I mean. I seem to be mixing up some Solise with my cana tonight."
[20:22:32] * +Coch enters
[20:23:13] <+Antilles> "You have nothing to fear from me.. Im just a regular like you know, Kevin."
[20:23:25] <+Antilles> "er, now"
[20:23:37] <+Antilles> "The beer must be getting to me"
[20:23:42] <+Kevin> "But a well known, high ranking 'regular'"
[20:23:45] * Zombus has joined #Teara-Adan

[20:24:29] * +Antilles looks at the man who would bring his saddle and belongings into the Tavern
[20:25:50] * +Jack follows Antilles' gaze and notes the saddle as well.
[20:26:57] <+Antilles> "Get a load of that guy" :: Antilles grins ::
[20:27:32] <+Jack> "I hope he has a horse to go with that."
[20:27:39] <+Kevin> "Just a bit paranoid. I get the feeling all the time. I just don't like horses."
[20:27:42] <+Antilles> "I bet he sits right beside you, Jack"
[20:27:50] * +Antilles laughs out loud!
[20:29:02] * +Coch picks up room key and heads towards the stairs
[20:29:42] <+Jack> "Nope, looks like he's headed upstairs."
[20:31:14] <.Bynw> *the newcomers movements are watches by several eyes within the tavern has Coch heads for his room*
[20:31:38] <+Antilles> "Consider yourself lucky, Jack.. he looks like a real winner."
[20:32:06] * +Coch goes upstairs
[20:32:21] <+Antilles> :: The sarcasm in Antilles' voice is unmistakable ::
[20:33:30] <+Jack> "Well, you never know about people.  Sometimes the 'real winners' turn out to really be winners.  But there does seem to be something odd about that guy."
[20:34:14] <+Antilles> "Your right, Jack.. I guess its my competitive nature that makes me say the things I say."
[20:34:20] <+Jack> "Maybe he's a spy with a secret compartment in his saddle."
[20:34:42] <+Kevin> "GENIUS!"
[20:34:47] <+Antilles> "Hmm, I doubt it.. a spy would'nt carry his rifle like that"
[20:35:45] <+Antilles> "Now, if he where carrying a case in the shape of a rifle.. I might be worried. He might be a hunter.. they are common around here."
[20:36:15] <+Jack> "Hunting game  . . . or bounties?"
[20:36:56] <+Antilles> "Fowl are in season.. Turkeys, right now."
[20:37:25] <+Kevin> "Kings and generals seem to be in season as well..."
[20:37:36] <+Antilles> "Well said Kevin"
[20:37:45] <+Jack> "Sure to be some turkey at the feast, then?"
[20:38:03] <+Antilles> "The biggest you've ever seen, Im sure, Jack:

[20:38:17] <+Jack> "That sounds great!  I love turkey."
[20:38:55] <+Antilles> "Well, it is late in the summer.. the holidays are coming up soon."
[20:39:01] <.Bynw> *several card games are in full swing in the dusty and smokey din of the tavern - good times all around*
[20:42:43] <+Antilles> "All Saints Day is not far off, of course you know, Jack."
[20:44:13] * +Coch returns from upstaris cleaned up wearing diffent clothes and a long knife at hip and goes to the bar
[20:44:16] * +Antilles drinks down his beer, and taps the bar with the bottom of his glass for another
[20:44:24] <.Bynw> *a middle aged man, covered in the dust of the road throws down his cards at one of the tables* "you sonabi' that's the last bit of gold y'll take frem me!" *he says while pointing a small metal rod at another player*
[20:44:28] <+Jack> "That's right, it is, isn't it?"
[20:44:44] * +Antilles turns to look at the commotion

[20:45:24] * +Antilles pats Jack's arm to look
[20:46:13] <+Antilles> ?? Whats the guy doing with the metal rod ??
[20:46:35] * +Kevin slowly turns around to see the commotion
[20:46:50] * +Jack looks at what's going on.
[20:47:09] <.Bynw> *the man points the rod at the other player who states* "damnit Kanner .. you know i wouldn' cheat ya"
[20:47:21] * +Coch says thats a gun fairly loud
[20:48:45] * +Antilles looks on
[20:49:14] <+Antilles> :: Antilles looks abit fidgety.. ::
[20:50:06] <+Antilles> "If I were still in the service, I would go over and stop this kind of thing, normally.."
[20:50:48] <.Bynw> *the man, apparently named Kanner snors* "you'd cheat yer own mother" *and the bar holds its silence no longer*

[20:51:14] <+Antilles> "Damnit"
[20:51:27] * +Antilles gets up and goes over to the table
[20:52:03] <+Antilles> "Gentlemen.. can you take this outside?"
[20:52:06] * +Kevin follows Antilles OVER
[20:52:43] * +Jack slowly gets out of his seat.
[20:52:57] * +Antilles looks both men in the eye
[20:56:19] * +Kevin backs up and awy from the people and draws a dagger
[20:56:27] <.Bynw> *the other card player falls back from having his face shot to the point of not being recognized and is quite dead*
[20:56:37] <+Antilles> :: Too late were Antilles' words, as the man is shot in the face! ::
[20:56:52] <.Bynw> *kanner looks over at Antilles* "Mind your own business boy. I was cheated"
[20:57:17] <+Antilles> "You now who I am?" :: Antilles says to Kanner ::
[20:57:40] <.Bynw> *kanner pockets the small pistol and gives everyone else at the table a look that could kill and gathers the coins with a sniffle*

[20:59:07] <+Coch> ""That man is wanted for rape and murder""
[20:59:20] <.Bynw> *kanner looks at Antilles and jerks back* "Don't you manhandle me! We can settle this outside if you like boy ..."

[20:59:57] <+Jack> ::to Coch:: "He is??"
[21:00:00] * +Antilles backhands Kanner
[21:00:06] <+Coch> "and I have proof"
[21:00:23] <+Antilles> "Pull that smokewagon and I'll cut you down, you dog!"
[21:00:37] * +Coch pulling out several pages of folded paper
[21:01:15] <+Coch> "what is this I've been hearing about a Day of Reckoning?"
[21:01:46] <.Bynw> *kanner licks the blood from his lip* "Yer stronger than you look boy. And ya smell too" *he wrinkles his nose and gives another sniffle*
[21:03:04] <.Bynw> *kanner grabs a deck of cards off the table*
[21:03:17] * +Jack casually puts his hand on the hilt of his sword but does not draw it.
[21:03:38] * +Antilles slams Kanner's hand down with the cards still in it
[21:04:05] <+Antilles> "your not going anywhere.. you've got some answering to the law to do, mister."
[21:04:53] * +Antilles looks Kanner dead in the eye
[21:05:44] <.Bynw> "How about we settle this matter 'outside'" *the last word said in a mocking tone similar to Antilles' own speech*
[21:06:22] <+Antilles> "Very well.. like men. With fists."
[21:07:01] <+Antilles> "Think you can act like a man, mister?"
[21:07:05] <+Jack> ::to Koch:: "Which one is wanted for rape and murder?  Kanner or the guy he killed?"
[21:08:12] <.Bynw> *kanner* "I can fight you like a man, but of course a boy like you is gonna get your ass wupped on"
[21:08:14] <+Coch> "the scum who shot that man"
[21:08:25] <+Antilles> "Lets go then"
[21:08:43] <.Bynw> *kanner waits to follow Antilles*
[21:08:49] <+Coch> "Where is the law in this town?"
[21:08:51] * +Antilles takes loose his swordbelt. He hands it to Jack, and walks outside.
[21:09:10] <+Antilles> "Im callin you out.. lets go"
[21:09:22] <+Jack> Jack takes the swordbelt.
[21:09:38] <.Bynw> *kanner heads outside following Antilles into the late afternoon sun, still holding the deck of cards*
[21:09:57] <+Antilles> "Drop the pistol, mister.. "
[21:10:06] <+Antilles> "And the cards"
[21:10:35] * +Antilles walks up to Kanner and feints left, then swings for a right upper-cut to his jaw
[21:11:26] <+Antilles> "I said, drop the pistol!"
[21:11:40] * +Coch follows to see
[21:11:49] * +Jack follows as well.

[21:59:11] <.Bynw> *the man is tied up easily enough ... but he will have difficulty standing and walking given the injury to his leg and will need to see some sort of healer about it before it becomes infected*
