[19:30] <.Bynw> way into the keep, Lars entered the front door and apparently
[19:30] <.Bynw> has slain an elf inside.*

[19:30] <.Bynw> *Lars left through the front door and has now joined the others
[19:30] <.Bynw> via the rope on the upper most floor.  Here the party has begun
[19:30] <.Bynw> a slow search of the tower.*

[19:31] * +Lars_Revik follows Nym down the narrow passage.. keeping alert for danger.
[19:31] * +Kanax signals for the door across the hall.
[19:31] * +Jenna follows keeping a keen eye on Lars
[19:31] <+Nym> ::Nods to Kanax then says in a whisper:: "Can anyone see into that room?" 
[19:31] * +Lars_Revik looks at the door that Kanax is signaling to...
[19:31] * +James follows Nym.
[19:31] * +Kanax looks for a keyhole.
[19:32] <+Nym> ::Indicates the room directly across the hall:: 
[19:32] <+Jenna> ??is the door closed??
[19:32] <+Lars_Revik> :: Whisper to Nym :: "What the hell are we looking for, anyway?"
[19:32] <.Bynw> *the door to the room directly across the hall is shut, there are no keyholes
[19:33] <+Jenna> @@we may need to See into it, Nym@@
[19:33] <+Nym> ::Whispers:: "hold for a moment.." 
[19:33] * +James holds.
[19:34] <+Nym> ::closes his eyes and concentrates:: 
[19:34] * +Lars_Revik nods at Nym, and holds his posistion.
[19:35] <+Nym> roll d20+4 
[19:35] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+4 and gets 18."
[19:38] * +Jenna waits impatiently
[19:38] <+Nym> ::Opens his eyes:: 
[19:39] <+Nym> "No one is on this level." 
[19:39] * +Jenna breathes a sigh of relief
[19:39] * +Lars_Revik looks at Nym with anticipation : "then we go down."
[19:39] <+Nym> "We are at the top of the tower so I suggest we take the stairway down" 
[19:40] <+Lars_Revik> "Aye, like I said... "
[19:40] <+Nym> ::Points to the left doorway:: "That takes us to the stairs." 
[19:40] <+James> "Okay, let's go."
[19:40] * +Kanax nods.
[19:41] <+Nym> ::Tries the door to see if it is locked:: 
[19:41] * +Lars_Revik nods.. and moves towards the door, behind Nym.
[19:41] <.Bynw> *the door to the stairs isnt locked
[19:42] <+Lars_Revik> ::whispers:: "Shall I descend?"
[19:42] <+Nym> ::Stands to the side of the doorway:: "Stand back, just in case" 
[19:42] * +James stands back.
[19:42] * +Lars_Revik backs up a bit.
[19:42] <+Nym> "Wouldn't want a nasty fireball in the face." 
[19:42] <+Nym> ::Opens the door:: 
[19:42] * +Jenna backs up quickly
[19:43] <.Bynw> *stone spiral staircase awaits the party
[19:43] <+Nym> ::Smirks at Jenna and Seanna:: "Ladies first?" 
[19:44] * +Kanax frowns, not taking the point this time. He watches the surroundings, as well as the party.
[19:44] <+Nym> ::Makes a hand flourish and a small bow:: 
[19:44] <+Seanna> ((Seanna isn't there))
[19:44] * +James gives Nym an odd glance.
[19:44] <+Seanna> ((is still back at the skiff))
[19:44] <+Jenna> "oh no let Lars go first"
[19:44] <+Nym> ((sorry, back with the skiff I remember)) 
[19:44] * +Jenna smiles at Lars
[19:45] <+Lars_Revik> "Ill go" I say, and I move toward the stairs.. and give Jenna a slight stare as I go.
[19:45] <+Nym> ::Shakes his head and follows Lars:: 
[19:45] * +James follows.
[19:45] * +Lars_Revik holds his sword out before him.. and I make my way down the stairs.
[19:45] * +Jenna follows after James
[19:46] * +Kanax follows Jenna, still watching the hallway behind them.
[19:46] <.Bynw> *there is a landing below and the staris continue on down the tower
[19:46] <+Lars_Revik> ::whispers:: "Care to answer me now, Nym?"
[19:46] * +Jenna readies her bow as they go down, just in case
[19:47] <+Nym> ::whispers:: "Answer what?" 
[19:47] <+Lars_Revik> ::whisper:: "What are we looking for?"
[19:48] <+Nym> ::Raises an eyebrow:: "The men in robes I assume. I only know that a great evil is here and it is not friendly to Anadari interlopers." 
[19:49] * +Lars_Revik shrugs.. ::whisper:: "Shall we investigate this level, or continue down?"
[19:49] * +James whispers ahead "Probably not friendly to any interlopers."
[19:50] <+Nym> ::Closes his eyes again in concentration:: 
[19:50] * +Lars_Revik sighs.. "We are here to kill them." I whisper to myself.
[19:50] <+Nym> roll d20+4 
[19:50] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+4 and gets 22."

[19:51] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+10 and gets 19."
[19:51] * +James frowns at Lars and just shakes his head in dismay.
[19:52] <+Lars_Revik> "Can you go any slower, Nym?" I whisper tersely.
[19:52] <+Nym> ::Opens his eyes:: "Yes I could but we are in a hurry, right Lars?" 
[19:53] * +Lars_Revik lets out a wolfish grin.. "Aye"
[19:53] <+James> "Well, Nym, anyone home on this floor?"
[19:54] <+Nym> ::Sighs:: "I don't think they are on this level. But they might be masking themselves." 
[19:55] <+Lars_Revik> ::whispers::"Then we should search lower. Only wastes time to go room by room.."
[19:55] * +Kanax shakes his head, "At thi point, we should be thorough."
[19:55] <+Lars_Revik> "We can always go back" I add 
[19:55] <+Nym> "I would guess they are on the level below us. It seems to be the living quarters for the tower." 
[19:56] <+James> ::Whispers:: "Let's go on, then.  If we find no one, maybe we can write this off as a bad idea and just go on."
[19:56] <+Jenna> d20+2
[19:56] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Jenna (d20+2) and rolled 15.
[19:56] <+Lars_Revik> "I trust your instincts, Nym." I whisper.
[19:57] * +Lars_Revik turns to continue down the stairs.. and I proceed.
[19:57] <+Nym> ::Nods and then begins to desend the stairs to the third level." 
[19:57] * +Jenna stops a moment and looks down the hallway both ways before proceeding
[19:57] * +James follows Nym as before.
[19:58] * +Lars_Revik holds his sword out, as before..
[19:58] * +Kanax continues to play rear guard, all the happiness he seemed to show at being home gone from his gace.

[19:58] * +Jenna motions Kanax to go on
[19:59] <+Nym> ::Kneels down and places his ear to the door to listen:: 
[19:59] <.Bynw> !! listen check please Nym
[19:59] * +Kanax looks quizzically at Jenna, but does so.
[19:59] <+Nym> roll d20+8 
[19:59] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+8 and gets 25."
[20:00] <+Jenna> ((wow I think I'll start using BoxCars too ))
[20:00] <+Nym> ::stands up and whispers:: "All clear I think." 
[20:00] * +Jenna follows after a time
[20:00] <+Jenna> ((down the stairs))
[20:01] <+Nym> ::Reaches past Lars and opens the door to the third floor:: 
[20:01] * +Lars_Revik allows Nym to go first
[20:01] <.Bynw> *the door opens to a common room, a faded carpet and tapestries on the walls
[20:02] <.Bynw> *several leather chairs and tables are in the room
[20:02] * +Lars_Revik looks for any persons in the room.
[20:02] <.Bynw> *the room has 5 other doors, 1 directly infront of the stairs and 2 on each of the other sides  (right and left)
[20:02] <+Nym> ::Slowly walks into the common room making quiet signals to the others:: 
[20:02] * +Lars_Revik enters the room.
[20:03] * +Kanax follows behins.
[20:03] <+Nym> ??is it possible to look through the keys holes or under the doors?? 
[20:03] * +Jenna slinks down the stairs quickly to catch up
[20:04] <.Bynw> !! yes it would be possible, if and when the situation present itself
[20:04] <.Bynw> *these doors do have keyholes
[20:05] * +Lars_Revik looks around the room,, keeping an eye out for movement; I hold my sword close, and high.
[20:05] <+Nym> ::Kneels before the door directly to the left of the stairs and peers through the key hole:: 
[20:05] <+Lars_Revik> (With both Hands)
[20:06] <.Bynw> (( as if facing the stairs or facing away from the stairs ... which left )
[20:06] <+Nym> ((facing away from the stairs)) 
[20:07] <.Bynw> (( k, just wanted to be sure))
[20:07] <.Bynw> !! spot check Nym
[20:07] <+Nym> roll d20+13 
[20:07] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+13 and gets 15."
[20:10] <+Nym> ::Closes his eyes but does not stand:: 
[20:11] <+Nym> ::For just a moment a bright green light flashes from the other side of the door then fades to a warm light:: 
[20:11] * +Lars_Revik stands in the center of the room.. looking at each door, and to Nym, in cyclic fashion.. making sure we dont get ambushed.
[20:11] * +Jenna arrives at the door to the stairs and looks around the room
[20:11] <+Nym> ::Again peeps into the room:: 
[20:11] * +James is standing by the doorway from the stairs.
[20:12] * +Jenna gives James a questioning look
[20:12] <+Nym> ::Stands up and motions everyone to come close:: 
[20:12] <+James> ::whispers to Jenna:: "Nym is peeping in doors."
[20:12] * +Kanax stands nearby, his hand resting on the haft of the WhiteAxe. At Nym's signal, he approaches.
[20:12] * +Lars_Revik looks at Nym with hooded eyes.. but I go over anyways.
[20:13] <+Lars_Revik> ::whispers:: "tell us"
[20:14] * +James goes about halfway over, to be in whispering range.
[20:14] <+Nym> ::As everyone gathers, he whispers:: "Those of you who have the skill can use your hand-fire to make a blinding flash inside the room then use the light to see by. Everyone who can take a keyhole." 
[20:14] * +Jenna approaches also
[20:15] * +Jenna then turns to go to the next door on the left
[20:16] <+Jenna> ((I do the same with the door next to the one Nym is at))
[20:16] * +Kanax shrugs kinda helplessly, watching the Deryni do their thing.
[20:16] <+Nym> ::Points to the four other doors then moves to kneel in front of the door directly across from the stairs:: 
[20:17] * +Lars_Revik stands beside Kanax, and he watches along in a bit of wonderment.
[20:17] <.Bynw> !! it costs 1 strain for the handfire folks (each time its created )
[20:17] <+Nym> ::Kneels and closes his eyes. A bright green flash comes from the other side of the door then fades.:: 
[20:18] <+Jenna> d20+7
[20:18] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Jenna (d20+7) and rolled 11.
[20:18] <+Jenna> ((a flash of light blue comes from behind the 2nd door))
[20:18] * +James moves slowly over to the door next to Jenna, in no hurry and hoping he'll only need to do one.
[20:18] <+Nym> ((I create it once then reuse it at every room increasing and decreasing the light level as needed)) 
[20:19] <+Lars_Revik> "What do you make of this, Kanax?" I whisper inquisitively.
[20:19] <.Bynw> (( james it would be the 4th door ))
[20:19] <+Nym> roll d20+13 
[20:19] * @BoxCars --> "Nym rolls a d20+13 and gets 26."
[20:19] * +Kanax remains silent for a long pause, before finally answering, "I learned log ago not to wonder about Deryni."
[20:20] <+Lars_Revik> "Aye, well said" 
[20:20] <+Jenna> d20+2
[20:20] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Jenna (d20+2) and rolled 5.
[20:20] <+Jenna> ((definitely switching to BoxCars))
[20:20] <+Nym> ((lol)) 
[20:21] <+Jenna> ((Bynw said I can't even sense my own presence currently, sigh))
[20:21] <+Lars_Revik> (( now, thats funny ))
[20:22] * +James arrives at door #4 and prepares to do his thing.
[20:23] <+James> ::to himself:: "I feel like a catburglar."
[20:23] <+Jenna> ((I'll take door #5 to double my prize, Bob! ))
[20:23] <+Nym> ((LMAO)) 
[20:24] <.Bynw> (( spot check james for looking into the keyhole after the handfire ))

[20:24] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for James (d20+6) and rolled 19.
[20:24] <+Lars_Revik> "Now you begin to understand, eh, James?" 
[20:25] * +Lars_Revik looks at James with a bit of chagrin.
[20:25] <.Bynw> *as james checks out the 4th doorway Jenna and Nym arrive at the final door
[20:26] * +James backs away. "Nobody home."
[20:26] <+Nym> ::Makes a flourish and whispers:: "Ladies first." ::Grins:: 
[20:26] * +Jenna smiles back at Nym for one second longer than necessary then turns to the door
[20:27] <+Jenna> ((the blue flashes again))
[20:27] <+Jenna> roll d20+5
[20:27] * @BoxCars --> "Jenna rolls a d20+5 and gets 10."
[20:27] <+Lars_Revik> (( what the heck is going on ?? ))

[20:29] <+Nym> ::Raises an eyebrow and looks to James and Jenna questioningly::

[20:30] <+Jenna> ((whispers)) "just apartments for whomever lives here"
[20:30] <+Nym> ::Nods and motions Kanax to try his talents at the door directly across from the stairs:: 
[20:31] <+Nym> ::Whispers to Jenna:: "That door might hold somthing to look at" 
[20:31] * +Lars_Revik stands with his hand on the pommel of his sword as if it were a walking cane.. and watches.....
[20:31] <+Kanax> ::whispers:: "Locked?"
[20:31] * +Jenna nods, concentrating on the door and grasping her bow
[20:32] * +Lars_Revik uncocks his leg, and lifts his blade to ready.
[20:32] <+Lars_Revik> "Careful, Kanax"
[20:33] <+Nym> ::Shrugs at Kanax:: 
[20:33] <+Nym> ::Stands to one side of the door:: 
[20:33] * +Kanax inspects the lock, attempting to determine if it's locked without trying the handle, yet.
[20:34] <+Lars_Revik> "Chop it down.. I've got your back."
[20:34] <.Bynw> !! spot check or disable device
[20:34] <+Kanax> d20+2
[20:34] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Kanax (d20+2) and rolled 14.
[20:34] * +Jenna rolls her eyes heavenward
[20:35] <+Nym> ::Raises an eyebrow at Lars and stares for just a moment then returns his concentration to the door:: 
[20:35] * +Kanax steps to the side a bit, and tries the handle.
[20:35] <+Lars_Revik> "All this sneaking about is getting tiresome..."
[20:36] <.Bynw> *the handle doesnt move and the door appears to be locked
[20:36] * +Kanax moves back to inspect the lock, retrieving his smithing utilities (professionalspeak for lockpicks), and begins to work at the device.

[20:37] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Kanax (d20+10) and rolled 17.
[20:39] * +James goes to the top of the next flight of stairs to watch for anyone coming up.
[20:40] <+James> ((If there's a door, he stands cautiously back from it and does not open it, but watches))
[20:40] <+Lars_Revik> (( got any warp wood spells James? ))
[20:40] <+James> ((Not today, sorry))
[20:40] <.Bynw> !! no doors in the stairwell itself
[20:41] <+James> ((Then he just watches the stairs without standing right in the middle and making himself a target for archers.))

[20:42] * @Palamedes rolls the dice for Kanax (1d6) and rolled 2.
[20:43] * +Kanax fusses with the lock for a bit, before sighing, "No good. It's a sturdy one."

[20:43] <+Lars_Revik> "Your axe.. it makes a good key." 
[20:44] * +Jenna steps quickly towards the door
[20:44] <+Jenna> "that won't be necessary"
[20:44] * +Jenna scowls at Lars
[20:44] * +Lars_Revik peers at Jenna, and smiles a toothy smile.
[20:44] * +Jenna turns to the door and places her hand on it, closing her eyes
[20:45] <+Nym> ::Sighs then pulls out the dagger at his waist which immediatly glows a dark green and expands to longsword length:: 
[20:47] <+Jenna> roll d20+3
[20:47] * @BoxCars --> "Jenna rolls a d20+3 and gets 12."

[20:47] * @BoxCars --> "Jenna rolls a d6 and gets 2."

[20:48] * +Jenna sighs wearily and opens her eyes for a moment, then closes them again
[20:48] * +Lars_Revik clears his throat

[20:50] * +Jenna peers into the room/whatever is beyond

[20:51] <+James> @@ We're on the middle floor of the tower @@
[20:51] <+Seanna> @@how did you get in?@@
[20:51] <.Bynw> *the door opens inward - it is an apartment ... the room is square and not odd shaped .. there is a wardrobe, garderobe, desk and bed ... the bed is unmade
[20:52] <+James> @@ Nym broke into the top floor and we climbed a rope. @@
[20:52] <+Jenna> ((to Nym)) @@of course (laughing)@@
[20:52] <+Nym> ::Walks into the room behind Jenna:: 
[20:52] <+Seanna> @@alright, we'll do the same if the rope is still there@@
[20:52] * +Lars_Revik moves toward the room..and he looks in.
[20:52] * +Jenna stops at the sight of the bed and looks all around the room cautiously
[20:53] <+Nym> ::Smiles for no apparent reason as if hearing a joke::

[20:53] * @BoxCars --> "Jenna rolls a d20+2 and gets 21."
[20:53] <+James> @@ I thought Nym wanted you to guard the door in case whoever is in here tries to get away. @@

[20:54] * +Jenna relaxes visibly then walks around the room looking at things curiously
[20:55] <+James> ::to Nym:: @@ Do you want Seanna and Delan to stay at the door or come up the rope and find us? @@
[20:55] <+Nym> ::Whispers:: "Could be the dead guy down stairs room, but someone was here....or is still here." 
[20:55] <+Lars_Revik> "It seems that the owners of the tower are either on the 2nd floor.. or they are not in the tower." 
[20:56] <+Jenna> "nobody is here in this room"
[20:56] * +Lars_Revik nods at Jenna
[20:56] <+Jenna> ((brb mgp))
[20:56] <+Lars_Revik> "So it seems, my lady."
[20:57] <+Nym> @@Ask here to set a ward so no one can leave the tower without her knowing. Have Delan stay with the skiff and meet us on the first floor. Front door should be open.@@ 
[20:57] * +Lars_Revik turns to Nym to speak "This is damned peculiar."

[20:58] <+Nym> ::Scratches his chin in thought for a moment:: "I don't know. Hold on for a moment." ::Closes his eyes in concentration:: 
[20:59] <+James> ::to Seanna:: @@ Nym wants you to set a ward on the door to detect it opening and then go in and meet us on the first floor when we get there. @@

[21:02] <+Lars_Revik> "If they are here.." I continue speaking to Nym "They must be all gathered on the next level. Its strange that we havent heard a sound, or seen a face."
[21:03] <+Seanna> ::since the door is locked, Seanna decides to use the alternate route and go to the window and climb up::

[21:07] <+Nym> ::opens his eyes and sighs:: "I think we should go to the first floor. I don't feel anything here but traces of activity"

[21:08] <+Nym> ::His sword once again becomes dagger length as he sheaths it under his cloak:: 
[21:08] <+Jenna> "they could be hiding on the second floor..."
[21:08] <+Lars_Revik> "We should check the second floor, dont you think?"
[21:09] <+Jenna> ((was that sort of like a light saber, Nym? ))
[21:09] <+Nym> ::Nods to Lars then walks quickly to the second floor:: 
[21:09] * +Seanna makes her way to the rope and the 5th floor window
[21:09] <+Lars_Revik> (( more like the Eye of Thundarra ))
[21:09] <+Nym> ((Somthing like it but very much diffrent and in some ways better)) 
[21:10] * +James is standing by the stairway concentrating on someting.
[21:10] * +Lars_Revik follows Nym to the next level..
[21:10] * +Jenna goes to the stairway and looks at James quizzically
[21:11] <+James> "There are people downstairs."
[21:11] <+Nym> ::Passes James. A grim expression settling on his face:: 
[21:11] <+Seanna> ::goes to the door and stairway to see if she can hear the party::
[21:11] <+Jenna> "inside or out?"
[21:11] <+Lars_Revik> "Good" I say matter of factly to James.
[21:11] <+Nym> ::Stops and looks back to James:: 
[21:12] <+James> "Activity of some sort.  I can't See more specifically."
[21:12] <+Jenna> "where is Seanna?"
