[19:21:13] * +Jack coincidentally passes through the great hall on the way to the kitchen for a fruit smoothie.
[19:21:36] * +Ryethon heads through the kitchen and grabs a pot of tea, while heading for the great hall

[19:27:47] * +Jack is distracted from pursuit of the aforementioned fruit smoothie by the arrival of Seth.

[19:30:00] <+Seth> ::Walks in to the great hall on the heels of Jack's statement::

[19:30:43] <+Coch> "Jack, it appears you have premonitions"
[19:30:53] <+Seth> ::He stares at Jack for a moment wondering how he knew he was coming, but dismisses it and continues taking his usual seat and pouring himself some wine::
[19:31:19] <+Jack> "Sometimes, but it's not consistent enough to do much good.  I'm told it might improve, though."
[19:33:23] <+Seth> ::Drinks from his goblet deeply and sets it down:: "God, I needed that."
[19:34:45] * +Ryethon walks in sets a cup of tea infront of Seth
[19:35:26] <+Seth> ::Grimaces at the tea and pushes it away when Ryethon's back is turned::
[19:35:31] * +Jack puts an order in with a servant for his fruit smoothie and heads over to Seth, too.
[19:35:34] <+Kevin> "I have waited in supense long enough! How did it go?"
[19:36:07] <+Seth> "The negotiations have concluded and gone well. Master Seafort is quiet amiable."
[19:37:35] <+Seth> "I've spent the afternoon going over the hard numbers and costs with him. I'm afraid 25% is a fair deal and I've agreed to that amount. Though the details of the contract had to be hashed out."
[19:37:50] * +Jack nods.
[19:38:12] <+Coch> "Well done Seth" 
[19:40:17] <+Coch> "How soon with the construction begin?"
[19:40:32] <+Kevin> "Aye. How long is the contract for?"
[19:40:36] <+Seth> "The good news is that the contract only extends to the end of Warp Woods current borders. Which means that if for any reason we found ourselves in a position to negotiate with our neighbors and add to the road, Master Seafort will have to re-negotiate the whole contract.

[19:40:53] <+Seth> ::To Coch:: "Anyday."
[19:41:48] <+Ryethon> "Oh, Seth.. Care to join me in aquainting our new major to the lay of the land tonight?"
[19:43:03] <+Seth> ::To Kevin:: "As I said it is permanent. I did include that the Seafort company or any of it's agents and/or allies are not allowed to construct any additions to the trade road without our consent. Hence if the Seafort's want a road that stretches to the river they will need to come to us later for a re-negotiations."
[19:43:54] <+Seth> "We can lower their percentage when we have more power to negotiate with."

[19:53:08] <+Seth> ::Not being the most athletic, he fumbles his wine cup and the talon. Dropping the talon and spilling a gulp of wine on himself:: "Damn. Perfectly good...Talon, what talon? Talon to what?"

[19:53:51] <+Jack> "Not sure.  Something big at least."
[19:53:55] <+Kevin> "We do not know what it is from."
[19:54:14] <+Seth> ::Reaches down to pick the cloth bundle up and unwraps it, taking a look at it as he does, but not touching it::
[19:54:45] <+Ryethon> "A young boy handed that to me, and ran off
[19:55:09] <+Kevin> "And didn't say a word."
[19:55:58] <+Seth> ::His eyebrow knits together in confusion and concentration:: "A boy? No one recognized him?"
[19:56:12] * +Coch refills Seth's goblet while he looks at the talon

[19:56:46] * +Ryethon quietly motions for someone to pass a cup of tea to Seth 
[19:57:32] <+Seth> ::Drains his wine goblet and refills it::
[19:59:55] <.Bynw> *Chadwick enters the Great Hall, dismissing the chamberlain with a look that could kill a lesser man as the faithful servant attempts to stop the druids interruption of the Lords
[20:01:45] <+Seth> ::He leans down and smells the Talon, then quickly pulls back at the stench. He looks up as the druid enters with a stone face:: "Let the man in, he has been summoned." ::he raises his voice to the servent::
[20:02:06] <+Ryethon> "Ah Chadwick, good to see you."
[20:03:04] <.Bynw> "I come of my own desire Seth. I am not a servant like that one, at least not a servant to mortal powers and principalities." *Chadwick corrects Seth as he would a young child*
[20:04:39] <+Jack> "Well, either way it's good to see you."
[20:04:41] <+Seth> ::He chuckles a bit:: "If it makes you feel better to say so, then by all means do so Master Druid."
[20:05:22] <+Ryethon> "Chadwick we have several things to ask you about if you don't mind. First, what do you think of this thing?" :: motions for Seth to hand Chadwick the talon::
[20:05:23] <.Bynw> *Chadwick takes the high seat, currently vacated as the Queen is out*

[20:10:33] <+Seth> ::Ignores both Chadwick and Ryethon. His hands wave over the talon leaving tracers of light. His eyes glow and he leans over the Talon peering closely at it. Everyone in the room feels an strange feeling of being watched suddenly and just as suddenly it passes::

[20:13:03] <+Seth> ::he sneers in frustration and the lights in his eyes go out:: "I can't tell a thing. I'm not sure, might be some kind of interference. I don't know. Tonight is not a good day for divinations."
[20:13:18] <+Jack> "The light show or the talon itself?"
[20:14:07] <+Seth> "It doesn't look fresh to me so what ever left it is gone, or left it some time ago. It is huge though, possible to be dragon size."
[20:14:08] <+Charissa> "Ah, Chadwick..glad to see you here.  Pray tell if you know what creature this talon came from"
[20:14:51] <+Seth> ::Pushes the Talon away refusing to get up to take it to Chadwick::
[20:15:21] <.Bynw> *Chadwick* "It came from a dragon. There havent been any here in over 3 of my families generations. And my family is long lived."
[20:15:58] <+Jack> "Then it's not from around here?  Or is it that old?"
[20:16:05] <+Kevin> "Could it of washed up during the storm?"
[20:17:24] <+Charissa> "it could be possible"
[20:17:29] <.Bynw> "No. It was in the harbor. And it's like a broken finger nail" *Chadwick states* "Every break one while doing some needlepoint" *he mocking asks the Queen*

[20:18:36] <+Jack> "Okay, so the dragon who lost it still isn't holding a grudge.  That's a good thing, right?"
[20:19:02] * +Coch offers his seat to the Queen
[20:19:08] <+Charissa> "Thank you Coch"

[20:20:14] * +Charissa takes a seat
[20:21:15] <.Bynw> "I have no idea. But a Dragon in the area certainly would disrupt the harmony of this land"
[20:21:28] <+Kevin> "IS there way to tell what dragon it is from?"

[20:26:35] <.Bynw> *Chadwick* "As in what individual dragon??"
[20:27:11] <+Seth> "It might be best to not dig too far into Dragon kin business Lord Kevin."
[20:27:38] <+Seth> "They are a secretive lot."
[20:27:47] <+Kevin> "I know little of Dragon kin business as it is."
[20:28:34] <+Kevin> "And, yes, that was what I was aiming for Chadwick."
[20:29:11] <+Seth> "The Talon seems to be dredged up from deep in the much of the Harbor and is old. I'm just happy it's owner hasn't shown up."
[20:29:40] <+Jack> "Well . . . if he does, we give it back, right?"
[20:29:46] <.Bynw> "The one with the broken nail ... " 
[20:30:14] <+Ryethon> "I am sure he was very attached to it... "
[20:30:35] <+Jack> "That's a legend, Master Chadwick?  About a particular dragon?"
[20:31:12] <.Bynw> "No. That's a broken nail, so I'm assuming the dragon you are looking for has a short broken nail"
[20:31:36] <+Charissa> "or had one a long time ago..."
[20:31:38] <+Jack> "Wait . . . we're looking for him now?"
[20:33:24] <.Bynw> *Chadwick* "Now is this all that you have 'summoned' me here for? To ask me questions you could have discovered on your own after my warning."
[20:34:04] <+Jack> "Ummm . . . no, we had another topic to discuss as well."
[20:34:12] <+Seth> ::Re-wraps the talon and shoves it into an inner pocket of his clothing::
[20:36:10] <+Seth> ::As the others engage Chadwick he turns to one of the servants and tells them to find Master Seafort and inquire about the boy who delivered the talon, if he sent it and such::
[20:36:26] <+Coch> "What if the rest of the dragon is at the bottom of the harbor?"
[20:37:16] <+Coch> "Is that the warning you wanted us to understand Chadwick?" ::looking at the druid intently::
[20:38:17] <.Bynw> *Chadwick looks heavenward and rolls his eyes* "I grow tired of the confining walls here ... what do you want .... I warned you about something amiss with the harbor. You ignored me in this very hall. I shall return the favor now." *he gets up and heads for the door*
[20:39:32] <+Jack> "Wait, we do have another subject, which I'm hoping won't be a big deal, but I'm afraid it might.  We wanted to consult with you about it."
[20:39:58] * +Coch starts laughing and says to the Queen "Your proper seat is now available my Queen"
[20:40:24] <.Bynw> *Chadwick opens the door and leaves the Greathall* "I have no time for your committee"
[20:40:48] <+Jack> ::aside:: "Well, your loss, then . . . "
[20:41:13] <+Charissa> "thank you Coch"
[20:41:32] <+Seth> ::He rolls his eyes at the others lords sufferance at the pompous druid, props his head on his elbow and takes a drink while ignoring the druids antics and keeping his sharp tounge under wraps::

[20:41:42] <+Charissa> "Chadwick is rather presumptous isn't he?"
[20:42:15] <+Jack> "At least now when he throws a hissy fit about the road, we can say we tried to talk to him about it first."

[20:42:33] <+Seth> "I supose it is out of the question that we put him in chains and drag him back here before he gets outside?"
[20:42:46] <+Coch> "I held my tongue assuming he was going to help us, I won't make that mistake twice and it seems the druids are not very concerned about the people of Warp Wood"
[20:42:48] <+Charissa> "not worth it Seth"
[20:43:46] <+Jack> "No, but many of the people are concerned about the Druids.  If we go out of our way to piss him off, we'll make enemies amongst the people."
[20:44:37] <+Seth> ::In a dismissive way:: "Then execute him."
[20:44:43] <+Coch> "I don't understand that from the people, it seems they would rather have more swamp than fields to harvest"
[20:44:59] <+Charissa> "Seth!  I won't have that kind of talk, even from you!!!"
[20:45:35] <+Jack> "Druidism is a religion.  The swamp is sacred, and thus more important than cropland."
[20:46:23] <+Coch> "No people to continue the religion, no religion"
[20:46:49] <+Coch> "the druid doesn't seem to realize that"
[20:47:03] <+Seth> ::in a relaxed fashion:: "Oh please. You can't tell me you haven't thought it." ::he takes a drink::

[20:48:25] <+Charissa> "I have not!"  ::says Charissa with faked indignation::
[20:48:57] <+Coch> "Seth you must have had a tormented youth"
[20:49:03] <+Jack> "I haven't.  I've been too busy thinking nasty thoughts about Father Pele."

[20:51:20] <+Coch> "I say we return the talon to the harbor and forget this matter entirely"

[20:52:11] <+Seth> "I'll take care of it. I have a few uses for it."
[20:52:36] <+Charissa> "maybe it was meant for you after all Seth"
[20:52:48] <+Coch> "Seth when you make statements like that it bothers me deeply"

[20:53:48] <+Seth> "Well it is a good thing I'm on your side eh Lord Coch?" ::smiles and takes his drink::
[20:53:59] <+Jack> "I probably don't want details, but if you have a use for it, I'd say take it."

[20:54:49] <+Seth> "Rare items like this are very useful to my craft. I may enjoy the finer things in life, but I do take my craft very seriously."

[20:58:56] <.Bynw> *the discussions of the Lords continue and life settles down to normal since the storm. Much of the damage in the capital is repaired and is being repaired up and down the coast as well. The following day, Master Seafort's ship leaves the harbor and is gone for 3 days before it returns and Sloan himself sets up an office with the permission of the Crown in Warp Wood.*
[21:01:21] <.Bynw> *the Major's men arrive shortly before Seafort returns and begin the recruiting and training of Warp Wood's military. Taking Ryethon and the men out into the swamps to build fortifications along the path that will become the trade route.

[21:03:25] <.Bynw> *By the beginning of November when the weather is cooler for the swamps. There is a good section of raised earth and road far out into the swamps. And an number of works around the area expanding it day and night.
[21:04:48] <.Bynw> *the Army numbers close to 100 men, trained in the basics of combat by the mercenaries hired by Lord Seth and they are now a hardened force of warriors instead of farmers and fishermen.
[21:08:46] <.Bynw> *on the 10th of November, 461 NE. News reaches the Palace that 6 small villages near the boarder Egora to the north have been burned out, the people slaughtered save for the few tha lived to tell the tale of how the Egorans crossed the boarder at night and attacked them
