[20:10:23] * +Nath nods to Knos as Knos draws his pistol and proceeds to scan the area

[20:11:02] <~Bynw> *Tara* "They aren't in the village ... but they are near. Too bad there is no wind"
[20:11:49] <+Regan> "Do you know their direction, Tara?"

[20:17:00] * Knos moves off following Rus, pistol at the ready and draws his sword in the other hand
[20:17:30] <Rus> "Milord it appears they are headed to Crescent Lake"
[20:17:51] * Rus points in the direction the tracks appear to be headed
[20:18:18] * +Nath looks to Nym
[20:18:20] * +Regan grabs Nym's wrist urgently, but not forcefully, waiting to Speak
[20:19:09] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks at Regan as he touches his wrist:: "Yes Apprentice?"
[20:20:11] <+Regan> @@"My parents live on that lake. They have a tavern there. I believe the OwlBears are headed straight for them!"@@
[20:20:26] * +Nath gathers up the reins of Rus' horse and follows after Knos

[20:21:41] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Sighs and Nods to Regan:: "I will move ahead then." ::He pats Iamar on his neck::

[20:23:33] <+Nym_Gibran> ::His eyes glaze for a moment, then refocus on Regan's face. A look of pity on his face.:: "I'm sorry Apprentice."

[20:26:22] * +Nath glances back "Ceadda? Any impressions?"
[20:26:39] <+Regan> "Sorry?" ::Moves Raider a few steps forward in the direction of the Lake Path then turns back to Nym with pleading in his eyes:: "No!"
[20:27:15] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks around to the others:: "The dwellings on the lake are destroyed. No survivors can be seen."
[20:27:43] <+Nym_Gibran> "The owlbears move among the ruins even now."
[20:27:58] <+Nath> "Any sign of this Chadwick?"
[20:28:13] <+Regan> "Is that bastard druid with them?"
[20:28:27] <+Llanth> "Regan."
[20:28:50] <+Nym_Gibran> "No humans have been detected yet."
[20:29:15] * +Regan whips his head around at his name being called. Panic in his eyes
[20:29:16] <+Nath> "Ceadda? Any unusual animal activity?"
[20:30:00] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks at Regan with a hint of sadness:: "It is possible they have already escaped. A friend is searching for them even now."
[20:30:50] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "Very much so ... there isnt anything here larger than a mouse"
[20:31:09] * +Llanth moves toward Regan.
[20:31:38] <+Regan> "Then there is still a chance! Will you know Master, or must I search myself. I must do everything I can to save them."
[20:31:52] <+Nath> "Ceadda or Nym, can you trace back the source of teh owlbear summoning if we get close enough?"
[20:32:42] <+Nath> "Rus! Scout ahead!"
[20:32:52] * +Risira moves her horse forward to Nath. "Is it not unusual that an attack has now happened in broad daylight? I thought they only attacked near evening."
[20:33:03] <Rus> "Aye Captain!"
[20:33:22] <+Nath> "Yes, it is odd.. a break in the pattern."
[20:33:31] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Glances to Tara:: "Possibly."
[20:33:42] * Rus moves off into the woods at a trot
[20:33:56] * +Regan moves Raider towards Rus, obviously wanting to join him

[20:34:40] <+Nath> "Knos, take point! We may never have a better chance!""
[20:35:19] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "I don't know. Never attempted to trace a summoning"
[20:35:25] * Knos spurs his horse forward and follows the Path guiding his stallion with his knees
[20:35:52] * +Nath moves back to the main group

[20:37:56] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Shrugs:: "I do, but I couldn't bring the rest of you with me. The owlbears don't represent much of a threat to me."
[20:38:25] * +Regan subconciously rubs his chest, then shakes his head as if he had forgotten something. Panic still in his eyes

[20:39:36] * +Regan turns back to Nym. "Then bring me, Master." pleading
[20:39:40] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "Nothing but vermin around here .... they dont seem to fear the creatures"
[20:40:11] <+Nath> "Is it possible that Chadwick is one of these vermin?"
[20:40:49] <+Nym_Gibran> "I'm sorry Apprentice, but I am not entirely sure I can protect you."
[20:41:10] * +Llanth reaches out with his mind to Regan.
[20:42:13] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "Many druids can take the shape of a wild beast. He might be deranged enough to become vermin"
[20:42:37] * +Regan looks to Llanth, then Nym, then back to Llanth with a question in his eye
[20:42:57] <+Nath> "Are any of them acting unusual? Hanging out near the owlbears perhaps?"
[20:43:26] <+Llanth> :: To Regan :: @@ Be still friend, we will do what we can. If we can save your parents, we will.  @@
[20:44:07] <+Regan> @@"What we can may not be enough. I must go with Nym"@@
[20:44:39] <+Nym_Gibran> "I will ride ahead and see what I can find. I will see if I can find this rogue Druid. I'm sorry Apprentice."
[20:44:53] * +Regan turns back to Nym.
[20:46:31] * +Regan reluctantly and with utter grief eventually nods. "Please save them. I do not wish to endange the rest, so I look to you Master to save them!"
[20:47:14] <+Nym_Gibran> "I will meet you at the lake. I can do more alone than with help." ::He glances once to Tara and nods once, then his very unusual horse strides into a gallop, in a few strides it simply disappears in a flash of light::

[20:48:30] * +Regan eyes go wide when Nym disappears. "Save them" he mumbles
[20:48:41] * +Nath turns and leads Rus' horse and follows after Knos
[20:49:10] * +Regan kicks Raider forward to the path at a gallop
[20:49:34] * +Llanth scans the area for threats.
[20:50:03] * Rus continues following the tracks
[20:50:24] * +Risira guides her horse to follow Nath.
[20:50:42] <+Nath> "Risira, check for any survivors."
[20:51:04] <+Risira> "Yes, Captain."  Risira dismounts and begins to search the smoldering ruins.
[20:51:41] * Knos follows any blaze marks left by Rus

[20:52:21] <+BoxCars> Regan rolls 4df and gets (+)( )( )(-) Fair
[20:52:27] * +Nath dismounts and searches the ruins for survivors or any thing unusual compared to previous attacks
[20:55:52] <~Bynw> *no survivors are in the village ...
[20:58:11] * +Risira returns to Nath's side, looking a little sick. "Captain, all I found are body parts."
[20:58:56] <+Nath> "Damn! When I catch the person responsible I may just dispense with formalities!"
[20:59:17] <+Daine> ::Looks about disgustedly:: "Even animals don't slaughter like this. This druid must be insane to do this."
[20:59:56] * +Regan approaches Knos on the Lake Path
[21:00:29] * Knos whirls pistol leveled but relaxes when he sees it is Regan
[21:00:58] * +Regan raises a hand. "Freind, I know the way."
[21:02:11] <Knos> "I am familiar with the area but I would welcome an able warrior on point with me."
[21:02:31] <Knos> "Where is Daine anyway?"
[21:02:38] <+Regan> "Then you shall have one."
[21:03:17] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "If these creatures are at the lake, whe should head there." *he looks around* "there is nothing we can do here"
[21:03:26] * Knos nods and resumes moving along the trail
[21:03:27] * +Regan raises an eyebrow at the slight. "You may be surpried, my fellow countryman."
[21:04:21] * +Risira mounts her horse again, settles her skirts across its back, and prepares to follow Nath and the rest toward the lake.
[21:04:40] * Knos looks "Possibly but Daine has the look of a trained warrior, the rest of you may be able warriors as well but he has the look and bearing."
[21:05:36] <+Regan> "True. But he, I suspect, is not all there." Said jokingly
[21:05:51] * Knos grunts
[21:06:06] <~Bynw> *an unearthly schreak of pain and angwish echos off the lake*
[21:06:41] * Knos breaks into a gallop
[21:06:46] <+Daine> ::Looks around at the carnage on the ground:: "Do anyone wish to perform some sort of pagan burial ritual or something for the dead?"
[21:06:47] <+Regan> "He has what I refer to as Daine Bramage." ::then looks ahead at the scream::
[21:07:18] * Rus breaks into a sprint towards the sound
[21:07:28] * +Regan follows Knos and catches up to him
[21:07:53] * +Nath breaks into a gallop leading Rus' horse
[21:08:11] <+Daine> ::Looks up at the faint sound coming from the direction of the lake, he sets off at a run towards the lake::
[21:08:17] * +Risira sets her horse to galloping, following Nath.
[21:08:59] * +Llanth starts running towards the sound of the scream.
[21:09:43] <+Regan> "Did that sound human to you, Knos?"
[21:11:20] <Knos> "nay"
[21:12:25] <+Regan> "Me neither!" Regan shouts over the pounding of their mount's hooves
[21:12:47] <~Bynw> *Ceadda heads for the lake*
[21:17:38] * +Regan frowns at his bow, then shakes his head and puts it away and draws his StarSword from across his back with another frown "A wooden sword. Not my first choice, but if I must, I must."
[21:18:19] * Knos glances at Regan "This is no time for practice weapons!"
[21:19:03] <+Regan> "So true." and keeps riding
[21:19:11] <+Nym_Gibran> ::A flash of dark green fire can be seen in the trees just off the path to the lake::
[21:19:38] <+Nym_Gibran> ::It appears only yards infront and to the side of the leading riders on their way to the lake::
[21:19:52] * Rus moves towards quickly taking advantage of any available cover back into stalk mode
[21:20:13] <~Bynw> *Tara moves up quickly infront of the main group* "Nym says that we should not approach the lake"
[21:20:18] * Knos hauls back on his reins
[21:20:32] <Knos> "why not?
[21:20:34] <~Bynw> "The owlbears are still there ... they will kill anyone that approaches"
[21:20:46] <+Regan> Raider instinctively comes up short and averts to the left
[21:20:49] * +Llanth runs up.
[21:21:04] <+Llanth> "We're stopping?"
[21:21:26] * +Nath approahces and slows "We do not wish to assist Master Nym?"
[21:21:34] * Rus continues
[21:22:03] <~Bynw> *for Regan and his group there is a flash of light on the path ... a blur of zips back and forth across the road*
[21:22:23] <Knos> "What was that?"
[21:23:12] <+Regan> "Some sort of barrier." ::aproaches, but does not touch it.
[21:23:17] * +Nath looks to Ceadda and Tara "Someone tell me what is going on?!?"
[21:23:40] * Gammo whispers "game in session?"
[21:25:22] <~Bynw> (( yes there is a game in session ))
[21:26:50] <+Daine> ::A child, it's difficult to tell a gender it seems neither male nor female, perhaps in it's early teens sits on a branch in one of the tree just off the side of the path. It's 'form' seems to be comprised entirely of dark green fire. It motions Regan and any rider with him forward and just off the path. It seems the flash of light was the same color as the fire that makes up the child. It hums softly to itself, a merry

[21:27:27] * Knos looks to Nath
[21:27:46] <+Nath> "Who are you?"
[21:30:38] * +Regan smiles at the child. "I believe it is of Nym's construct."
[21:30:54] <+Nath> "Construct?"
[21:30:59] <~Bynw> *just before the lake is Regan and 2? of the king's men which are behind some kind of barrier*
[21:31:05] * Knos looks confused
[21:31:23] <+Nym_Gibran> ::The child flips itself so that it is hanging upside down from the branch, it smiles at Nath and giggles:: "You ask too many questions, that have answers that don't matter. And you snore in your sleep...just a little." ::it giggles again::
[21:31:27] <~Bynw> *and some distance behind them are the rest of the king's men and the apprentices being stopped by Tara*
[21:32:14] <+Nath> "why thank you.. I didn't know that Why are you stopping us?"
[21:33:05] * Rus steps out of the woods and approaches Nath
[21:33:50] * +Regan keeps smiling at the child and then makes a small ball of handfire, silver, and begins to playfully toss it from hand to hand.
[21:34:35] <~Bynw> *Tara looks towards the lake*
[21:34:52] <+Nym_Gibran> ::It rocks back and forth humming to itself and seeming to be enjoying all this greatly, it smiles at Nath:: "You stopped yourself. I'm just swinging here." ::it giggles at Nath:: "Silly. How'd you get to be a Captain thinking like that. Makes no sense."
[21:35:17] <+Nath> "Really?"
[21:35:33] * +Regan chuckles softly
[21:35:35] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks to Regan and hops down from the tree, it laughs as it's eyes follow the ball in his hands::
[21:35:47] <Rus> "Milord? That is a psychic shield"
[21:36:23] * +Nath dismounts and leads his horse forward and reaches a hand out to the barrier
[21:36:55] * +Regan extends the sphere to half the distance between the two of them. "What's your name?"
[21:37:20] * Knos looks at Nath with some worry "Milord?"
[21:37:48] <+Nym_Gibran> "Sorry I can't play right now Regan. But I will another time. Stay here." ::With that said it's form simply goes out and it is gone
[21:38:41] * +Regan withdraws the handfire and extinguishes it, then nods to the command.
[21:38:53] <+Regan> "We wait."
[21:40:20] <~Bynw> *as nath's hand touches the barrier ... its feels as if he stuck his hand in cool water*
[21:40:29] <~Bynw> *but it is not wet*
[21:40:43] <+Nath> "odd"
[21:41:13] * +Nath continues forward leading with his arm outstretched
[21:42:08] <~Bynw> *nath passes through the barrier and is on the other side of the path, and cannot be seen by his comrads*

[21:43:36] <Rus> "Captain!"
[21:43:38] <+Risira> "Captain!"
[21:44:52] * +Nath turns "Yes? It is perfectly safe."
[21:44:58] <~Bynw> *Tara to the others* "Nym says to approach quietly and without the horses. And not to attack unless we are attacked"
[21:45:41] * +Llanth approaches the barrier. "Told you horses were more trouble than they were worth.
[21:45:42] <+Nath> "Where did you all go?"
[21:46:09] <~Bynw> *the barrier fades*
[21:46:23] * Rus moves forward and boldly walks through the barrier
[21:46:53] * +Regan moves foward with the rest, anxiety in his eyes.
[21:47:00] <~Bynw> *Tara and the others catch up to Nath and those that were ahead of them*
[21:47:12] * +Risira dismounts and ties her horse to a tree, then follows Nath.
[21:47:23] <+Daine> ::Fingers his revolver as his eyes scan back and forth, but he follows the others::
[21:47:45] * Rus steps off the path and continues toward the lake
[21:47:53] * +Regan turns back to Raider. "Be good."
[21:48:00] <~Bynw> "Nym says we can approach but leave the horses behind" *Tara says to Regan and the others as everyone is back together, save for Nym*
[21:48:47] <Knos> :: To his stallion and points to the other horses:: "Guard"
[21:49:07] <+Nath> :: speaks to his stallion and points to the other horses:: "Guard"
[21:49:18] <~Bynw> *the group takes close to 45 mintues to make the rest of the journey to the lake on foot*
[21:49:27] * +Nath moves on
[21:49:32] * Knos moves on
[21:50:26] <~Bynw> *They can see the ruins of the lake settlement (tavern and house). it has been torn apart. Many dead owlbears can be seen. And several are still fighting one an other*
[21:50:36] * +Risira follows Nath, doing her very best not to step on anything or make any noise at all.

[21:52:24] <~Bynw> *it is almost sunset*
[21:52:28] <+Nym_Gibran> "Over here" ::Quietly calls from behind a tree off the side of the path.:: "Keep quiet."

[21:52:55] * +Llanth approaches Nym_Gibran quietly.

[21:54:43] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Kneels down on his hunches, he speaks quietly:: "The Akasha has a powerful influence on weak minds." ::smiles up at Tara::

[21:55:56] <+Nym_Gibran> "I've left one asleep over that rise." ::points off into the forest:: "The rest should kill themselves so long as nothing distracts them."

[21:57:03] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "At least we will be rid of creatures. What do you plan to do with the one you have kept alive?"
[21:57:52] <+Nym_Gibran> "They have been summoned again and again using magic. I was hoping we might be able to track them back to Chadwick."
[21:58:16] <+Nym_Gibran> "If not. I will put it down."
[21:58:23] * Elttaes has quit IRC (Quit: Stage Left!)

[21:59:03] <+Nym_Gibran> "Without these beasts Chadwick will have to do his own dirty work, or summon more of them."
[21:59:36] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks to Tara:: "I believe these where the one's tracking us yesterday."

[21:59:57] * Knos nods grimly
[22:00:21] * +Regan whispers "Yesterday?"
[22:00:37] * +Nath whispers "Excellent question Llanth"
[22:00:47] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Absently waves Regan's question away::
[22:01:21] * +Regan tilts his head, but no more.
[22:01:48] <+Nym_Gibran> ::Looks to Ceadda:: "Do you know where to find the person responsible for bringing these creatures here?"
[22:02:43] <~Bynw> *Ceadda* "I have told you already that I do not know anything about them or where to find them or the person responsible"

[22:03:21] <+Nath> "It is why we are here.. Master Nym to find that out and stop them."
