[19:53:19] * +Taenor scans the area beside his companion, both with his senses and with his eyes.
[19:54:30] <~Bynw> *the mountainside is defendable. there is a cave that can be used for storage and a final stand if necessary and there is plenty of wood to be used for building a simple fort, but it will take time

[19:57:01] * +Llanth picks up an axe. "Anybody besides me know how to use one of these?"
[19:57:14] <+Daine> "Well I say we sleep in the cave in the mountain side with a ward over the mouth of the cave. That should keep us safe at night." ::Looks to Llanth::

[19:58:52] <+Taenor> "I do. Done it for too long to keep warm or earn money."
[19:59:25] * +Taenor takes an axe and starts chopping.
[19:59:44] <+Llanth> "No we all dance merrily throught the forest nude playing flutes and fire provides it's self."
[20:00:50] <+Taenor> "Interesting, Llanth. I thought you did something like that. Now all the cocky attitude stuff makes sense."
[20:01:13] <+Llanth> "I was more refering to your possible lack in skill in anything other than being crude, a feat you humans excell at I might add."
[20:01:53] <+Taenor> "It's making up for all the other shortcomings that happen to be a staple of your, ahem, physique. The other elves must have laughed you out of the forest."
[20:02:29] * +Llanth raises an eyebrow.
[20:02:54] <+Daine> ::Shrugs:: "I wouldn't know. I'm not human."
[20:03:05] <+Llanth> "I was unaware that I embarassed your manhood, I shall endevor to hide myself better in the future."
[20:03:29] * +Taenor claps his companion on the shoulder. "That's okay my unhuman heathen friend. We understand."
[20:04:08] <~Bynw> *Regan and Mark return from the forest. With a bag of nuts and berries and firewood*
[20:06:33] <+Llanth> "Ah, Regan and Mark have returned."
[20:09:01] <~Bynw> *Regan sighs abit and sets down the bundle and then picks up one the axes*
[20:09:52] <+Llanth> "Should we start by building a picket around the cave enterance?
[20:11:32] <~Bynw> *Mark checks out the cave some more* "How long do you think it will take before this Chadwick makes his move?"
[20:11:56] <+Llanth> "A week? A month? Tonight? Who knows?"
[20:12:15] <+Llanth> "Though I think that a ward would be just a little suspicious..."
[20:13:52] <+Daine> ::brushes off Taenor's hand with a look:: "Do you have a better solution for keeping us safe as we sleep?"
[20:14:03] <+Llanth> "That being the case I think that a picket would be more applicable."
[20:14:33] <+Daine> ::Rubs his face in frustration::
[20:15:25] <+Daine> "We are after a druid. Wood barricades will not hinder him. Not to mention these owlbears would rip apart anything we build short of fortress walls."
[20:16:01] <+Llanth> "It gives an illusion."
[20:16:16] <+Llanth> "We can errect a ward if the need arrises."
[20:16:32] <+Taenor> "The ward from the get go would be better."
[20:16:35] <+Llanth> "Though we will have to have a watch for that case."
[20:16:49] <+Taenor> "As far as we know, he has nothing that can penetrate it."
[20:16:54] <+Llanth> "You think so? It would be a beacon would it not?"
[20:17:25] <+Daine> ::Sighs:: "You might be onto something Llanth. Perhaps a flimsy log barricade over the mouth of the cave will hide our wards from casual observation."

[20:17:56] <~Bynw> *Mark* "I hope we dont have to get into a fight ... I am uncomfortable fighting"
[20:18:26] <+Daine> "A simple branch and leaf door would do. Nothing to fancy, just a cover."
[20:18:36] <+Llanth> "We know, you just handle that ward when we need it."
[20:18:59] <+Daine> ::Eyes Mark, but says nothing::
[20:19:52] <+Llanth> "Daine, I would think that loggers would want to keep regular bears out of the cave a brantch and leaf door and nothing else would arrouse suspicion just as much as a ward, if not more so."
[20:20:51] <~Bynw> *Regan* "Usually our presence is enough to keep bears out ... but not always."
[20:21:45] <+Daine> ::Picks up an axe and offers it to Llanth:: "Sounds like you have the idea. I'm sure you'll work out the details."
[20:22:04] <+Daine> "Can anyone create illusions by chance?"
[20:22:20] * +Llanth looks at the axe that was already in his hands.
[20:22:29] <+Llanth> "Nice to see you'll be joining me Daine."
[20:23:39] <+Daine> ::Ignores Llanth and drops the axe at his feet. He paces while he thinks::
[20:26:50] <+Daine> "Regan what time of day did the attack on your village happen?"
[20:27:34] <+Llanth> "Fine. Anyone else willing to go with me? Or should I just watch my own back?"
[20:28:23] <~Bynw> *Regan joins Llanth with the wood chopping* "Just after sunset is when they came crashing through the woods on us."
[20:28:44] <+Daine> ::Eyes Llanth:: "Listen to the forest, the birds. The owlbears will disturb things, birds will take flight and things will become quiet."
[20:33:08] <~Bynw> *the rest of the afternoon passes quickly with the sounds of axes hitting a several trees. hard work for those with the axe and even harder work to turn trees into lumber with limited equipment*
[20:36:53] <+Daine> ::Spends sometime walking the local area and mentally mapping it::
[20:40:48] <+Taenor> *tags along with his companion*
[20:42:29] <+Daine> ::To Taenor:: "I don't think this is going to work out very well."
[20:42:39] <+Daine> ::throws a stick off into the bushes::
[20:42:42] <+Taenor> "Nor I."
[20:43:07] <+Daine> "We need an edge."
[20:43:10] <~Bynw> *Mark uses the later hours of the evening to help move the lumber to the cave and also prepares a meal*
[20:43:58] <+Taenor> "Aye."
[20:47:30] <+Daine> "It would be nice if we could take the fight to this...Chadwick."
[20:49:03] <+Taenor> "The chopping wood should be enough to entice him to show himself."
[20:49:52] <+Daine> "Yes, but what then. He'll surround us with those creatures and we'll end up as dinner."
[20:50:10] <+Taenor> "A few arrows through the eyes?"
[20:50:12] <~Bynw> *Regan sits down catching his breath in the warm darkening sky*
[20:50:45] <+Daine> ::Looks up at the sky:: "We'd better head back, it's getting late."
[20:52:01] <+Daine> ::To Taenor:: "I suspect he will be in some avian form or another. The prints we found at the logger camp mean he was flying I think. Shapeshifting into a bird."
[20:52:35] <+Daine> ::begins walking back towards the cave::
[20:53:09] * +Taenor follows,listening.
[20:55:39] <+Daine> "My only idea is that when the attack comes we fall back to the cave. Our wards will protects us from the owlbears. Someone can hide and follow the owlbears as they leave. The druid shouldn't go far, he'll regroup close by and attack again. The owlbears will lead us right to him. Then we can attack while they sleep."
[20:56:00] <+Daine> "Hide outside the ward I mean."
[20:56:30] <+Taenor> "Interesting. It might work."
[20:56:53] <+Daine> "It's all I've got."
[20:57:53] <+Daine> ::Walks into the cave and breaths in the smell of dinner, he smiles at Mark:: "Thank you."
[20:58:03] <~Bynw> *Mark* "I've got some grub ready for us" *he says as the others return to the cave* "Its a mix of the stuff we found out in the woods and some of our rations. We will need to go hunting tomorrow"
[21:02:07] <~Bynw> *Mark serves up a helping to everyone*
[21:02:41] <+Daine> ::Shares his idea on how to catch the druid with everyone::
[21:02:51] <+Llanth> "Well it's better than horse."
[21:02:51] <+Daine> "What do you think?
[21:03:51] <+Taenor> "Same as the food. It's better than horse."
[21:04:06] <~Bynw> *Mark* "DO owlbears sleep?"
[21:05:45] <+Daine> ::shrugs:: "I'm not sure. But the druid controlling them does."
[21:07:04] <+Daine> "As far as I'm concerned I'd rather avoid the owlbears all together. Killing them will accomplish nothing. It's the druid we want."
[21:07:15] <~Bynw> *Regan* "They are probably sleeping in the caves. Fortunately we havent stumbled on them ourselves."
[21:08:17] <+Daine> ::Looks thoughtful for a moment:: "Regan you know these parts. Do any of the caves have a back way out?"
[21:09:23] <~Bynw> *Regan* "Some of them do. The bigger ones, not the small ones like ours here. The mountains are riddled with them. It would take years to search them all. Even the bigger ones"
[21:12:10] <+Daine> "A ward at either end of one of those caves would make an excellent prison."
[21:12:59] <+Llanth> "But finding the right one would be the issue."
[21:13:04] <~Bynw> "Probably true Daine" *Regan says* "But most of the large caves are several miles to south of here"
[21:13:08] <+Daine> ::Looks about at the others:: "Retreat into one of those caves and draw the owlbears in. Then exit and set wards at either end."
[21:13:44] <+Daine> ::Nods to Llanth, then looks to Regan:: "Know any by chance?"
[21:16:01] * +Taenor wiats, listens, and keeps casting outward

[21:16:26] <~Bynw> *he shakes his head* "Not really. Too far south for me"

[21:17:14] * +Taenor shakes his head, eats some, and tries to cast his senses in a different direction arc
[21:19:04] <+Daine> "Well then, my only idea is that one person hides higher up on the mountain everyday and keeps watch. When the attack happens we all fall back here and get a ward up to keep out the owlbears. The one outside watching the area can hopefully alert us ahead of time and hide outside the wards long enough to follow the owlbears once they leave, or spot the druid if they don't."

[21:25:12] <+Daine> ::Sighs as he finishes his dinner:: "Until we have the barricade up I guess we'll have to set watches. I'll take the first."

[21:26:58] <+Daine> ::Stands:: "Until someone has a better idea I say we consider mine our current plan. We can send someone higher up the mountain, not far, tomorrow. Agreed?"

[21:28:46] <+Daine> "Everyday we'll rotate the post so it doesn't seem suspicious. Keep an eye out for birds as well I think Chadwick likes to take the form of an avian of some kind to scout. So if you hide make sure it's away from the sky as well."

[21:29:27] <~Bynw> *Regan* "I'll take watch after you Daine" *he goes to get some rest now in the cave*
[21:29:52] <+Taenor> "I'll take the watch after Regan."
[21:30:00] <+Daine> ::Nods to Regan and walks out into the night and climbs a tree to take his turn at watch::

[21:37:44] * +Taenor curls up in a ball, clutching his stomach
[21:39:11] <+Daine> ::Rolls over in his sleep, dreamily looks about. His intuition wakes him and he stands to go relieve himself outside. He notices Taenor is missing, but as he is peeing he sees the moon as being close to dawn::

[21:40:41] <+Daine> ::Eyes everyone curled up in what appears to be pain::
[21:41:21] * +Llanth rolls over and sits up.
[21:41:33] <+Daine> ::Comes back inside the cave and picks up a tray from dinner and sniffs it::
[21:41:44] * +Llanth blinks a couple of times and wonders what the hell is going on.
[21:41:50] <~Bynw> *Mark has vomited some as has Taenor. Both are shivering cold*
[21:42:43] <+Daine> " Llanth, wake up. Something is wrong."
[21:42:50] <+Llanth> "I am awake."
[21:43:04] <+Daine> ::Bends down and feels Taenor's forehead for fever::
[21:43:14] * +Llanth stands up.
[21:43:37] <~Bynw> * Taenor is burning up *
[21:43:57] * +Llanth walks over to Mark and places his hand on his shoulder.
[21:44:14] <+Llanth> "What ails you?"
[21:44:45] <+Daine> "Poison."
[21:45:23] <~Bynw> *mark is in a fetal position., shivering ... much in the same mannor that Taenor is in .. he does not respond. There is blood in his vomit*

[21:52:16] <+Daine> ::Looks to Llanth and makes a hand gesture to stay put and puts a finger over his mouth to stay quiet. He moves towards the mouth of the cave, staying low and keeping his pistol in hand::
[21:53:26] * Patrol_Leader is astride a Sorraia Stallion. Other Figures can be seen behind him in the woods.
[21:54:18] <+Daine> ::Peeks his head out enough to see them, but no more. He shouts to be heard:: "Hello."

[21:57:13] <+Daine> ::He looks back at Llanth in puzzlement. He speaks in Uthani accented Cana:: "I do not understand."

[21:58:41] <+Daine> ::Looks back at Llanth and lowers his voice:: "Sounds like that pagan talk of Regan's."

[21:59:42] <+Daine> ::Back out at the group of men, he raises his voice to be heard and talk in Cana with his usual heavy Uthani accent:: "I do not understand you."
