[19:27:06] * +Coch is studying maps of Warp Wood in the Great Hall
[19:27:43] * +Ryethon heads to the great hall.
[19:28:02] * +Kevin sits in the Great Hall, casually dining and chatting with the other lords present
[19:29:07] <+Ryethon> "Ah Coch. :: Sets the pot down on the table near the maps.:: "How goes the study of the maps?"
[19:30:05] <.Bynw> *the path for the trade road is through some pretty nasty territory. there is a foot path and horse trail there already but not any form of a proper road
[19:30:07] <+Coch> "Good.  I want to memorize the terrain, it may come in handy"
[19:31:21] * +Jack waunders into the great hall carrying a plate of sausage and eggs, and a glass of OJ.
[19:32:47] <+Kevin> "Good morning, Jack."
[19:33:31] * +Ryethon pours himself a cup of tea.
[19:33:32] <+Jack> "Morning, Kevin.  How's it going?"

[19:35:03] * +Ryethon reaches into his cloak and pulls out a small object wrapped in a rag
[19:35:26] * +Coch addressing Ryethon "It seems our border at the beginning of the peninsula is approximately 100 miles.  I wonder if a channel could be dug then flooded and bridges built?"
[19:36:42] * +Charissa is eating and listening to everyone
[19:37:16] <+Ryethon> "Would anyone happen to know what this is?" :: Opens the rag and displays a large talon.::
[19:38:10] <+Jack> "Looks like a claw of some sort.  Where is it from?"
[19:38:40] <+Kevin> "Other than it being a claw, I have no idea."
[19:38:40] <+Ryethon> "A young boy handed it to me in the hall and ran off."
[19:39:12] <+Coch> "A present from the druids or the other wizards?"
[19:39:29] <+Ryethon> "Well as you can see, it is a bit.. fresh.."
[19:40:11] * +Charissa goes over to take a closer look at the claw
[19:42:51] <+Charissa> "Seth needs to take a look at this"
[19:45:44] <+Ryethon> "That he should, perhaps we should send someone to summon him."
[19:46:03] <+Charissa> "aye"
[19:46:31] <+Charissa> ::motions to a servant to get someone to find Seth::
[19:47:00] <.Bynw> *the servant nods and goes off to find Lord Seth*
[19:48:18] <+Kevin> "Did the boy say anything at all when he handed it to you?
[19:48:45] <+Ryethon> "No."
[19:51:35] <+Charissa> "did he run away or walk away?"
[19:53:27] <+Ryethon> "He ran."
[19:54:31] <+Charissa> ::takes a few steps back and says "Rython, you might want to put that thing down somewhere and move away from it"::
[19:55:18] * +Coch pulls out his studded club
[19:55:45] * +Ryethon flips the rag back shut and sets the twhole thing on the table.
[19:55:55] * +Ryethon takes a step back
[19:56:15] * +Jack takes a couple steps back from the claw.
[19:58:06] <+Charissa> "who besides Seth can check for magic on this thing?"
[19:58:09] * +Kevin gets up amd follows everyone else's lead. "What's wrong?"
[19:58:55] <+Charissa> "if the boy ran away after handing this to Ryethon and we don't know what it is or where it came from, it may be prudent to do a magic check"
[19:59:02] <+Coch> "Should we take it outside of the castle?"
[19:59:19] <+Charissa> "that may make matters worse"
[20:01:53] <+Charissa> "here the magic should be neutralized by the wards"
[20:03:38] <.Bynw> *Adrain Sprax, Seth's right hand man, enters the great hall.* "Ah General. Just the man I wanted to see." *he says as he approaches Ryethon*
[20:04:12] * +Ryethon holds a hand up indicating that Master Sprax should pause.
[20:05:29] <+Ryethon> "Master Sprax, we appear to have an interesting situation here, a short while ago, a young boy ran up to me, and handed me that rag :: points at the rag :: and inside is what apears to be a rather large fresh talon."
[20:05:33] <.Bynw> *Adrian stops and looks puzzled seeing all the other lords standing away from the table*
[20:06:14] <.Bynw> *Adrian raises an eyebrow* "A talon? From what?"
[20:07:19] <+Ryethon> "Now that would be the question wouldn't it?"
[20:07:43] * +Ryethon draws his knife from his leg sheath.
[20:07:51] * +Ryethon flips the rag open
[20:08:13] <+Ryethon> "There you have it Master Sprax."
[20:08:38] <.Bynw> *Adrian comes closer to get a better look* "May I see that knike?"
[20:09:01] * +Ryethon flips the knide over and hands it to Master Sprax.
[20:11:02] <.Bynw> *Adrian takes the knife and removes any of the rag that still may be covering the talon. And then begins to poke at the talon itself .. turning it over and such*
[20:13:09] <.Bynw> *he takes the knife away and sniffs it and makes a face* "This has been in some pretty nasty stuff"
[20:13:33] <.Bynw> *he sniffs it again and then hands the blade back to Ryethon*
[20:14:02] * +Ryethon takes the blade and calls for a cloth
[20:14:04] <+Coch> "What do you mean by that?"
[20:14:19] <+Charissa> "Jack, do you know of any druidic ways to see if there's any glamour on that thing?"
[20:14:22] <+Jack> "Poisoned?"
[20:15:13] <+Charissa> "or magical"
[20:15:48] <+Jack> "I've never studied the druids that much.  We could try to find the druid master, though."
[20:16:00] <.Bynw> "I mean it stinks" *Adrian remakes and reaches down and picks the talon up from the rag  ... dropping it back right away shaking his hand* "And a bit slimy too"
[20:16:08] <+Charissa> "aye..maybe he can shed some light on this"
[20:16:33] <+Charissa> "wait...I have an idea...find Seafort!  He said he has magicians at his service!"
[20:17:02] <+Jack> "Yeah, and if we find him, we might just find Seth, too."
[20:17:56] <.Bynw> *Adrian turns back to Ryethon* "General, the reason I came was to inform you that the mercenaries will be here no later than tomorrow afternoon when their ship arrives."
[20:18:00] <+Ryethon> "Hmm maybe I am a bit over cautious, but i would advise against being overly dependant on Master Seafort and his lackeys."
[20:18:20] <+Ryethon> "Many thank Master Sprax."
[20:18:57] <+Kevin> "Aye."
[20:20:28] <.Bynw> "It might make a nice knife blade" *Adrian says while patting Ryethon on the shoulder and glancing back towards the talon* "I'd clean it first though ... unless you want to make someone ill while using it"
[20:21:28] <+Ryethon> "Hmm an interestin thought you have there...."
[20:21:57] <+Ryethon> "I think that Chadwick would know more about this than anyone. Yet another thing to bring up when he gets here."
[20:23:36] <+Kevin> "But it could be from him, could it not?"
[20:23:54] <+Charissa> "I don't really see Chadwick's hand in this"
[20:24:03] <+Ryethon> "In my dealings with him in the past, he has been more direct."
[20:24:42] <+Jack> "Seems sorta un-druidlike to be sending us animal parts, too."
[20:25:29] <+Charissa> "exactly...not something a druid would do"
[20:26:57] <+Kevin> "Good point."
[20:28:08] <.Bynw> *Adrian, who hasnt left yet* "What has a talon that size? Nothing I've ever seen."
[20:28:35] <+Jack> "Dragon?"
[20:29:13] <+Charissa> "aren't dragon talons used in magical potions and things like that?"
[20:29:42] <+Jack> "No doubt."
[20:30:20] <.Bynw> *Adrian looks over at the talon* "Not in these parts ... dragons haven't been in the territories since the Fall"
[20:31:15] <+Jack> "Someone could have brought it in by portal."
[20:32:44] <.Bynw> *Adrian* "There are enough portals around ...." *he pauses and goes back to the talon, picking it up again*
[20:36:31] <+Coch> "Should we send for Bishop Nidar?  He may be able to shed some light on this for us"
[20:37:16] <+Ryethon> "Maybe he can."
[20:37:17] <.Bynw> *Adrian puts it back down after awhile wiping his hands on the rag*
[20:37:39] * +Coch smiling says " Or we can hand it to Father Pele and see what happens to him"
[20:38:00] <+Charissa> "hehehe"
[20:38:08] <+Charissa> "that would be funny"
[20:38:16] <+Jack> "Tempting . . . "
[20:42:03] <+Kevin> "Are we possibly putting too much thought into this? Could it just be a small boy's random finding and a gift to the lords?"
[20:42:39] <+Jack> "Well, if it it a dragon, apparently nobody found it around here."
[20:42:50] <.Bynw> *Adrian* "Apparently nothing happens if you handle it. I've picked it up twice you know."
[20:44:17] <+Jack> "Could be a charm targeted against a specific person, too."
[20:45:43] <+Jack> "Or poisoned against specific people here."
[20:49:02] <+Ryethon> "Could it be that a dragon has found it's way here, by magical means or otherwise?"
[20:51:24] <+Kevin> "Wouldn't it of been spotted somewhere?"
[20:51:48] <+Ryethon> "that may be what this is, a spotting."
[20:55:58] <+Jack> "I'm still afraid that nasty stuff on the talon might have merasha in it. You're not deryni, are you, Master Sprax?"
[20:57:16] * +Coch puts away the club
[20:58:03] <.Bynw> *Adrian* "Actually I am. Almost everyone is here you know."
[20:58:18] <+Jack> "Okay, that rules that out."
[20:59:30] <.Bynw> "The 'nasty stuff' is more like a ships bilge" *Adrain says*
[20:59:53] <+Jack> "From the harbor, possibly?"
[21:01:38] * +Ryethon leans over and smells the talon
[21:01:40] <.Bynw> "Like the from the bottom?" *Adrian* "Its a possibility, it could have been there for years and got stirred up which the harbor was dredged"
[21:02:09] <+Kevin> "So we could have a seafaring monster now?
