[19:20] <.da_GM> futher south and east towards the Paradisian/Einar border area
[19:20] <.da_GM> known locally as the Old Valimar region.
[19:20] <.da_GM> *With everyone onboard the air skiff - Delan has made haste into the
[19:20] <.da_GM> woods following the road in places but sometimes off of it - hoping to
[19:20] <.da_GM> reach a suitable spot before nightfall in just a few hours time...

[19:40] <.da_GM> *as the skiff pops up on the road from the forest - there is a dead animal right in the way --- kanax is unable to pilot the skiff out of the way ... however delan is able to gain enough lift to avoid hitting it but does cause the craft to almost make a complete loop*

[19:40] * +Jenna looks up in alarm just before the skiff lurches

[19:43] <.da_GM> *the dead animal, a few yards back on the road, is a horse - with tack*
[19:43] * +Kanax 's head bounces off the controls, giving the skiff one last lurch before coming to a stop.
[19:43] <+Lars_Revik> "Nice piloting, Kanax." ::I say with some chagrin::
[19:43] <+Kanax> "I'd like t'have seen you do better, lad" 
[19:44] * +Kanax shakes the cobwebs out of his head, and stands.
[19:44] * +Lars_Revik looks at the horse, disembarks, and goes over to inspect it.
[19:44] <+Jenna> ((kick him in the kneecaps, Kanax))
[19:44] <+Seanna> ::takes a look at the dead animal in the road::
[19:44] <+James> "Well rest then.  I'm going back to look at that horse."
[19:44] <+Nym> ::Stands up and jumps to the ground then follows Lars to inspect the horse::

[19:44] * +Kanax climbs down to check for damage to the skiff, before going to check the horse.
[19:44] * +Lars_Revik is looking at the horse.
[19:44] * +James joins the horse inspectors.
[19:45] <+Seanna> "well, dang, if they're all going to go look at it, I'll stay with you Jenna"
[19:45] <+Lars_Revik> "Where is the rider, I wonder?" :: to James ::
[19:45] * +Jenna takes a few deep breaths in and out, slowly
[19:45] <+James> ??does the horse have injuries as if from weapons??
[19:46] <+Nym> ::kneels and takes one of the hoofs in his hand:: 
[19:46] <.da_GM> *the horse is dead - but hasn't been dead for more than a few hours - it's death was by sword*
[19:46] <+Lars_Revik> ?? Does the horse have any equipment on it ??
[19:46] <.da_GM> *it still has its tack (bit, bridle, saddle ... saddle bags)
[19:46] <+James> "I'd say whover killed the horse now has the rider, lars."
[19:47] <+Lars_Revik> "Kanax, where does this road lead?"
[19:47] * +James checks the saddle bags.
[19:47] <+Seanna> "Jenna, if you're alright, I'm going to go see what they found out"
[19:47] <+Lars_Revik> "If this was a messenger, someone got him before he had a chance to send it."
[19:48] * +Jenna stands back up after a few minutes, looking to see what is going on
[19:48] <+Nym> ??does the hoof fit with the tracks I recognized earlier?? 
[19:48] * +Lars_Revik looks to see where the tracks came from.. kneeling on the ground for a close inspection.
[19:48] * +Seanna nods as Jenna stands up and jumps off the skiff to go to the others
[19:48] <.da_GM> !! lars do you have tracking feat 
[19:49] <+Lars_Revik> !! heck no, but I wish I did !!
[19:49] <.da_GM> !! nym, no !!
[19:50] * +Kanax gathers the pieces of the skiff that were lost, for hopeful repair later, "We're gonna have to take it slower."
[19:50] * +Lars_Revik gets up off the ground.
[19:50] <+Lars_Revik> "I cant tell which way the horse came from"
[19:50] <+Nym> ::Kneels to inspect the tracks:: 
[19:50] <+James> "Doesn't look like he was robbed."
[19:51] * +James looks for tracks leading away.
[19:51] <+Seanna> "if it is a kidnapping, then why kill the horse?  Why not take it with?"
[19:51] <+Lars_Revik> "Anything in the saddle bags, anyone?"
[19:51] * +Jenna gets down off the skiff and goes to where the horse is, trying not to breathe through her nose
[19:51] <+Kanax> "The road will take is eventually to the monistary.  It leads to Paradise, beyond that.
[19:51] <+Lars_Revik> "They killed the horse to stop the rider, is my guess."
[19:51] <+Nym> ??Which direction do the tracks come, where were they headed and where did the rider go?? 
[19:51] <+James> "Saddle bags are undisturbed.  Money there and everything."
[19:52] <+Seanna> "so where's the rider?"
[19:52] <+James> d20+8
[19:52] * @Cerebus rolls the dice for James (d20+8) and rolled 11.
[19:52] <+Lars_Revik> "Taken, Seanna"
[19:52] <+Nym> @roll d20+9

[19:52] <+Seanna> "then why not take the horse too?"
[19:52] <+Lars_Revik> "They think they are untouchable"
[19:52] <+James> "I can't see any tracks going away."

[19:53] <+Lars_Revik> "No need to hide the corpse if you dont care who finds it"
[19:53] <+Seanna> "why leave the horse dead in the middle of the road for people to find?"
[19:53] <+James> "The area is too messed up with tracks."

[19:53] <+Lars_Revik> "They are daring us to find them."
[19:53] <+Seanna> "James, any identification in the saddle bags?"
[19:54] <+James> "I didn't look.  I was just seeing if the rider was robbed."
[19:55] <+Lars_Revik> "Inspect the bags, James.. we might find a clue."
[19:55] <+Seanna> "I'll take a look if nobody minds.  We may get clues of where this horse and his rider was from"
[19:55] * +Lars_Revik nods to Seanna
[19:55] * +James checks the contents of the saddlebags thoroughly.
[19:55] * +Seanna goes over to help
[19:55] <+Nym> ::Walks around a bit then stands still:: "Our robed figures did this..." 
[19:56] <+James> "I was afraid of that, Nym."
[19:56] <+Seanna> "aye"
[19:56] * +Lars_Revik turns quickly to face Nym
[19:56] <+Nym> "The rider was ambushed, and taken. Alive I think." 
[19:56] <+Lars_Revik> "You recognize the tracks, Nym?"
[19:56] * +Jenna looks at Nym "oh?"
[19:57] <+James> "This rider will be the next sacrifice, no doubt.  I wish I could have found the tracks leading away."
[19:57] <+Lars_Revik> "I had hoped it was orcs or the like.. "
[19:57] <+Nym> "Yes, it's hard to see them with so many tracks, but I'm certain it's them." 
[19:57] <+Lars_Revik> "But surely you are correct, James."
[19:58] <+Lars_Revik> "Can you follow where they went, Nym?"
[19:58] <+Nym> ::Looks thoughtful then begins moving in circles again studying the ground:: "Perhaps..." 
[19:58] <+Seanna> ??anything in the saddlebags that might identify where the rider came from? like markings on the money purse, etc??

[20:08] <+Lars_Revik> :: To Nym :: "Can we follow in the skiff, or better to go on foot?"
[20:08] * +Kanax nods, knowing Delan's unspoken thoughts, "We need to get moving. No time to give the animal a burial, but we should probably gather the gear. We'll return it to the owner if he lives.
[20:08] <+Seanna> "it is getting dark but if we don't go after them now, then the Ranger will definitely be dead"
[20:08] * +Kanax nods to Jenna, and indicates her bow, "The same."
[20:08] <+Nym> ??how old are these tracks?? 
[20:09] <+Lars_Revik> (( the horse has been dead for hours ))
[20:09] <+Kanax> ((Only a few hours))
[20:09] <+Nym> "I think they will sacrifice the ranger tonight, some time after dark." 
[20:09] <+James> "Somebody wanna cover me while I'm tracking?  I won't be able to track and watch out at the same time, especially after dark.

[20:10] <+Lars_Revik> "Are we to use the skiff, or go on foot?"

[20:10] * +Lars_Revik pulls out his longsword, and holds it with both hands.

[20:11] <+Kanax> "Delan can pilot at low speeds.  We'll have to be on the lookout, though.  We're in a dangerous place."
[20:11] * +James gets down on hands and knees with the handfire in front of him.
[20:11] * +Jenna readies her bow with an arrow, looking around suspiciously
[20:12] * +Lars_Revik walks behind James slowly.

[20:12] <+Nym> ::Opens his eyes, they have changed shades from lite blue to an inhuman dark green:: 
[20:12] * +Kanax keeps his hand on the hilt of the Whiteaxe, moving slowly behind James.

[20:20] <+Nym> ::Suddenly bounds off into the undergrowth moving at inhuman speeds, as fast as or faster then a horse::

[20:20] * +James shrugs and gets on the skiff.
[20:20] * +Jenna looks at Nym and yells "how am I supposed to cover you like that?!"

[20:21] * +Jenna tries to keep a watch out for Nym, or things around where he might be
[20:22] <.da_GM> *Delan* "How the hell am I supposed to pilot that way?" *he slowly edges the skiff on and its not as smooth as it was*
[20:22] <+Lars_Revik> "Keep us as close to Nym as possible, Delan, damn the woods."

[20:26] <+Lars_Revik> "How goes it Nym?" 
[20:26] * +Kanax takes his position, and begins piloting the skiff, "We're going to have to try to make repairs at daylight, Delan."

[20:27] <Kosty> ((if he smells something fishy this far from the ocean you guys are in trouble because we know what he is tracking))
