[20:12] <~bynw> | truce with Leopold. Sometime during
[20:12] <~bynw> | the start of the clean up which will
[20:12] <~bynw> | take several days. Leopold has
[20:12] <~bynw> | disappeared.
[20:12] <~bynw> |
[20:12] <~bynw> | Alderic has issued the order to find
[20:12] <~bynw> | where Leopold has gone. And his men
[20:12] <~bynw> | begin their search of the palace and
[20:13] <~bynw> | city.
[20:13] <~bynw> |
[20:13] <~bynw> | Workers come and go as the body of the
[20:13] <~bynw> | ancient Dragon is broken down bit by
[20:13] <~bynw> | bit. And a new throne is carved from
[20:13] <~bynw> | it's skull. The task is slow and will
[20:13] <~bynw> | take months to complete properly.

[20:13] <~bynw> | Alderic will need to make a temporary
[20:13] <~bynw> | great hall else where in the palace or
[20:13] <~bynw> | in the city until his proper throne
[20:13] <~bynw> | and hall have been cleaned and carved.

[20:15] <Alderic> ::to Alianna:: "So I imagine I am quite the sight?"
[20:15] * Alianna looks at Alderic with wide eyes.  "Yeah, to say the least."
[20:16] <~bynw> ::various members of the court see to Alderic's needs and by extension Alianna's and Maylda's. treating all 3 as royality::
[20:16] <Alderic> ::Raising his voice:: "And where is Leopold at a time like this?" ::looks about the chamber for emphasis::
[20:17] * Alianna seems a little taken aback at being treated so deferentially.
[20:17] <Alderic> "He WILL answer for standing aside while I was attacked!"
[20:17] <~bynw> ::the crowd of people working on cleaning up the bloody mess of the dragon and even those carving a throne from it's skull stop and turn towards their king as he speaks::
[20:19] * Alianna regards Alderic but says nothing, since a) she wasn't even awake when all this happened and b) she doesn't see the point in arguing with him given their original mission in this place.
[20:20] <Alderic> ::Lowering his voice again, for Alianna only:: "I'm going to go get cleaned up, you might want to do the same."
[20:20] * Alianna nods and says quietly, "Sounds like a plan to me."
[20:21] * Alianna disappears down a corridor, following a servant towards a room where she might bathe and change into non-dragon-blood-soaked clothes.
[20:21] <~bynw> ::one of the administrators of the kingdom comes to Alderic:: "Your Majesty" ::he says with a bow:: "Our men have located one of the retainers of General Leopold. He is being brought to the palace now. And should be here within the hour."
[20:22] <Alderic> ::raises his voice to be heard:: "Your telling me Leopold has fled and cannot be located?"
[20:22] <~bynw> ::Maylda too goes to get changed::
[20:23] <~bynw> ::the two ladies are given a few ladies in waiting to help them bathe and to get dressed again::
[20:23] * Alianna looks oddly at the lady-in-waiting, but allows her to help.
[20:24] <Alderic> "I suppose that is to be expected, considering his conduct. I will need chambers and a bath."
[20:24] <Alderic> ::to Alianna:: @@"That could have gone better."@@
[20:25] <Alianna> @@Indeed.  But hopefully all is not lost.@@
[20:25] <~bynw> ::administrator bows low:: "Leopold is not to be found in body Sire. Your Royal mages believe he has truely fled from your realm."
[20:26] <Alderic> @@"Make no mistake we have targets on our backs. Be careful."@@
[20:26] <~bynw> ::the administrator calls over a servernt to take the king to his own chambers for a bath and fresh clothing::
[20:27] <Alianna> @@I don't doubt it.@@
[20:30] <~bynw> :;after being bathed and getting fresh clothes, the King and his two ladys are escorted to a private sitting room, not far from the main hall. it has a high backed chair usable as a throne and Alderic has a hammered circlet of gold to denote his royal rank::
[20:30] * Alianna stands off to Alderic's left.
[20:31] <Alderic> ::Calling on the Matrix he casts a message to his grandfather and the others on their council of war as he bathes, pulling Alianna in as well:: @@"We under estimated Leopold. His will for survival is stronger than his ambition. He abdicated to me and fled while his henchwoman held my attention."@@
[20:32] <Alianna> ::to the Council::  @@Indeed.  His henchwoman nearly killed me, but I believe she's done for now.@@
[20:32] <Alderic> @@"I council we move on his Matrix's now. It will either flush him out or we stand a good chance of weakening him."@@
[20:32] <~bynw> ::Temere:: @@"actually that is not surprising. he is a coward at heart."@@
[20:33] * Alianna at this point sits and listens to the mindspeech conference.
[20:33] <Alderic> @@"We must move quickly to secure the Matrix's. Before Leopold can call for me to defend them against you."@@

I need you to contact the Spectral Order and explain to them that a mage has taken power in the new kingdom of Valimar. One who is....supportive. Tell them to hurry, send an emissary."@@
[20:45] <Alderic> @@"Tell them I wish to discuss the idea of putting their order back in power at their old home."@@

[20:50] <~bynw> ::the others in the chamber far away cut the link::
[20:51] <Alderic> ::Sighs and takes a seat by the fire in a large over-stuffed chair. His back to the fire.::
[20:52] <~bynw> ::the sitting room in the palace has been made into the king's audience chamber. there are several administrators to take care of state business and to advise his majesty. and servents as well to see to the needs of everyone::
[20:55] <~bynw> ::a man is brought in, his clothing is that of a fine noble or freeman, and his hands are bound in front of him. he looks a bit banged up too. a few recent brusies. a bit of dried blood from the corner of his mouth as he is brought before the king::
[20:56] <Alderic> ::waits for the man to be announced::
[20:57] <~bynw> ::two guards have him on either side and another of the administrators stands nearby and speaks as he bows at the neck:: "Your Majesty. This is the retainer of the former General Leopold. One of his spies that was caught before he could make his escape from your Realm"
[21:06] <Alderic> ::Nods to the administrator, his eyes narrow fractionally as he surveys the man:: "What makes you think this man is a spy?"
[21:07] <Alderic> ::begins to truth-sense those in the room, not trying to cover it up::
[21:08] <~bynw> "He is a retainer of Leopold. His loyalty to him will be higher to anything else Your Majesty. We have not had the change to yet determine if he is one of Leopold's drones." ::the adminstrator says::
[21:09] <~bynw> ::the accused man just stands there, his hands still bound. he isn't saying anything or making any motion to indicate his actions::
[21:10] <Alderic> ::Looks at the man with a hard stare:: "I've been King for less than a day and done not one thing to earn it except present paper to the effect. Shall I begin to beat everyone who's loyalty is not absolute then to prove myself?"
[21:16] <~bynw> ::administrator bows apologetically:: "It is not my intent to offend you Your Majesty. Leopold's influence is great"
[21:17] * Alianna stands behind Alderic's chair and off to his left, just watching.
[21:18] <Alderic> ::waves it off:: "If I was offended I would've taken your head. I do not take oppertunity to take offense. As to Leopold, he has fled to the shadows as he always does."
[21:19] <Alderic> "No more man handling of prisoners of Valmarian decent, yes?"
[21:19] <~bynw> ::the accused:: "Leopold will return, he is honoring your truce."
[21:19] <~bynw> ::the administrator bows::
[21:21] <Alderic> ::Looks to the man:: "Do you mean to attack me or harm me in any way during our meeting here then?"
[21:22] <~bynw> ::the accused:: "No Your Majesty. I do not mean to harm you in anyway during this meeting"
[21:23] <Alderic> "Do you swear not to flee and that you will stay and face me?"
[21:26] <~bynw> ::the accused:: "My Lord Leopold has requested that I depart Valimar as not to cause you any alarm that, we his servants, would attempt to usurp your throne. Unless my Lord Leopold commands that I stay, I must leave at the earliest opportunity."
[21:29] <Alderic> "Do you serve Valimar or Leopold?"
[21:29] <~bynw> ::the accused:: "I serve Leopold."
[21:38] <Alderic> "I see, and Leopold has asked that all his servents depart Valimar then?"
[21:41] <~bynw> ::the accused:: "Yes Your Majesty. He has instructed all of us to leave Valimar. We wish to show you that we will not cause any disruption to your lawful rule. You are King."
[21:42] <Alderic> "Very loyal of you."
[21:47] <Alderic> ::To the administrator:: "Have the guards take him back to his cell please."
[21:48] <~bynw> ::the admistrator nods and the guards take him away::
[21:51] <Alderic> ::After the man leaves, he turns to the administrator:: "Have him executed quietly and immediately. Make it quick and painless. Send an order out that no one is to leave Valimar by order of the King. Then quietly hire brute squads to track down and kill as many of those who flee as possible."

[21:53] <~bynw> ::the admistrator nods:: "It shall be done Your Majesty" ::he turns and parts the chamber::
[21:54] <Alderic> ::As he leaves, to his back:: "And bring me that meat-puppet Cedric."
