[08:15:21 PM] <bynw>   Ken has gone to meet with the damage control team who will be
[08:15:21 PM] <bynw>   repairing the Lady Luck while leaving the others behind to talk
[08:15:21 PM] <bynw>   with the politians.

[08:17:23 PM] <Raith>   ::Sits back in his seat with a sigh and a thoughtful expression on his face:: "How did Klae Orsi die?"
[08:17:40 PM] <bynw>   *the doors to the room open again, and in walks another man. wearing an ADF tunic with a senator's cloak ... indicating he is a military senator*
[08:17:59 PM] <bynw>   *Tejer* "He willed it."
[08:18:12 PM]     * Sathara 's arm jumps up as if to salute the military senator.
[08:18:36 PM] <Raith>   ??Is the newcomer Alliance??
[08:18:46 PM]     * Sathara mutters quietly.  "Overtrained."
[08:19:21 PM] <bynw>   !! yes he is quite human. and Raith recognizes him instantly. he is the commander of the Xunil
[08:20:03 PM] <Sathara>   ??Do I recognize him??
[08:20:33 PM] <bynw>   !! not really ... but you recognize the rank insignia
[08:21:10 PM] <Raith>   ::Stands and extends his hand to the new comer:: "Senator."
[08:21:17 PM]     * Sathara can't help but straighten and stand almost at attention.
[08:21:20 PM] <bynw>   *the newcoming military senator has the rank insignia of an Admiral
[08:22:09 PM] <bynw>   *the man takes Raith's hand* "Good to see you in one piece Raith"
[08:24:21 PM] <Raith>   ::Smiles just slightly:: "For now Senator."
[08:24:49 PM] <bynw>   *he slaps Raith on the back* "Don't go changing it any time."
[08:25:23 PM] <bynw>   *he looks over at Sathara* "as you were"
[08:25:26 PM] <Raith>   "Your moving into politics Admiral? Not sure if I'm that brave myself. I prefer to look my enimies in the eye."
[08:25:44 PM]     * Sathara looks a little sheepish and relaxes her stance.
[08:26:22 PM] <bynw>   *admiral* "Politics and a promotion. And that is what brings me here ... you have caused quite a stir with your first encounter with an alien race that lead to their destruction."
[08:26:34 PM] <Sathara>   ??What's the Admiral/Senator's name?
[08:30:19 PM] <bynw>   "in fact that was the catalyist that brought the Klade fully into the Alliance instead of sitting on the sidelines. they didn't want any ancient enemies to come gunning for us under a mistaken identity."
[08:31:31 PM] <Raith>   ::His smile evaporates and is replaced with sadness::
[08:32:13 PM] <bynw>   "so there are some who think you should be tossed out of the service at the very least. but cooler heads prevailed. it wasn't your fault Major."
[08:33:06 PM] <bynw>   "I have been given full command of the entire corps of exploritory ships in every direction. thus my promotion to Admiral."
[08:33:50 PM] <bynw>   *he takes a seat next to Tejer* "And that brings me here to you. I have some changes that need to be made with your crew"
[08:34:12 PM]     * Sathara looks at Raith in some alarm.
[08:34:50 PM] <Raith>   "Sir?"
[08:35:53 PM] <bynw>   *Admiral Barry* "First i see that your engineer, Ken Starmane isnt here ... well i'm sure he'll figure it out one way or another."
[08:36:41 PM] <bynw>   *admiral barry* "THere is no change for you Major Raith. You are still going to be the captain of that special Lady Luck you have."
[08:37:57 PM] <bynw>   "There is also no change for you Doctor Cross." *he says addressing the doctor* "You are still very much an ADF Doctor and Lieutanent."
[08:38:44 PM] <bynw>   "Now for Jaeih. Her people are welcomed fully into the Alliance and are being assimulated into the ADF from there own military force."
[08:39:35 PM] <bynw>   "Jaeih, within the ADF your rank is now official that of Captain, of course that differs from the position of captain."
[08:40:54 PM] <bynw>   "Raith. If the good engineer doesn't figure it out on his own. He is rather young and was only a Specialist anyway. Let him know that he is now out of uniform and has been commisioned as a Lieutenant."
[08:44:02 PM] <bynw>   *the admiral turns his attention now to Sathara* "And now we are left with you Sathara T'Reis." *he pauses* "According to your offical record, you have a problem with command. However I think its more of a problem with a certain LT who was an idiot and despite his family connections has never been officially promoted beyond a Lieutenant."
[08:45:27 PM]     * Sathara 's face runs through an interesting sequence of expressions, ranging from apprehension to suppressed laughter to a certain almost-smiling calmness.

[08:52:24 PM] <Sathara>   "Aye, sir."
[08:53:52 PM] <bynw>   "You are offically reinstated into service, with the time between since you left the service until you joined this crew is now officially on record as inactive reserve status."
[08:54:16 PM]     * Sathara raises her eyebrows.  "Aye, sir."
[08:55:20 PM] <bynw>   "And further more, since the good Major here has deemed it appropriate to make you his XO. That leaves me with no choice but to have your ADF status reinstated and commissioned with the rank of Captain."
[08:56:33 PM]     * Sathara 's eyes grow huge, and she manages to choke out yet another, "Aye, sir."
[08:57:24 PM]     * DrCross gives the surprised Sathara a congratulatory handshake
[08:57:44 PM]     * Sathara manages a quick grin at DrCross.
[08:59:38 PM] <Raith>   "Well Senator in one single stroke you've taken the 'dis' out of our reputable. I'm surrounded my good ADF military men and women again. Not sure how I feel about that." ::smiles at his crew::
[09:00:54 PM] <bynw>   "Now down to the real business. Your ship suffered a bit of a beating when you were out there lost in the void of jumpspace ... it will take probably a month to make her fly again. For the month you are all on shoreleave. Use it."
[09:01:50 PM]     * Sathara looks at the captain and imagines him spending his month with a Scotch in his hand, and  once again, barely manages not to laugh.

[09:02:46 PM] <bynw>   "But afterwards, I have chosen your crew for a mission of the upmost importance."
[09:03:04 PM] <Raith>   "A month grounded?"
[09:03:16 PM]     * DrCross is very happy about the shoreleave... a good time for yoga and meditation
[09:04:11 PM] <Sathara>   "Cap'n, you didn't seriously think we were going to have a quick turnaround, after what the Lady Luck has just been through and how we limped back here?"
[09:04:48 PM] <bynw>   "Raith, I know you relax in different ways. Your engineer will probably relax by spending all of his time in the repair of the ship itself. Relax however you relax"
[09:06:57 PM] <Raith>   ::Sighs:: "Yes, sir. Hard liquor and soft women." ::Salutes sharply::
[09:07:04 PM] <bynw>   "Even now though I will give you a quick briefing of your future mission. One of your sister exploritory ships suffered a misjump and ended up way off course. Fortunately they were able to make it back. However they discovered a world that needs some detailed investigations."

[09:09:05 PM]     * DrCross wonders about this "Doctor Lambert"
[09:09:17 PM] <bynw>   *an older man comes in carring a small case and sits it down infront of the admiral. then he himself sits down as well*

[09:13:01 PM] <bynw>   *Admiral* "This is Doctor Nathan Lambert, he will be joining you on this mission. He is an expert in xenobiology"

[09:16:01 PM] <bynw>   *Admiral* "The exploration crew, touched down on the world they discovered. they found its environment to be similar to our own except for high levels of radiation. enough to kill if you have prolonged unprotected exposure. the crew's brief survay of the world determined that the radiation ..."

[09:16:02 PM]     * Sathara looks over at Raith with one eyebrow cocked.

[09:16:24 PM] <bynw>   "You find something funny Major?" *the admiral asks*
[09:16:48 PM]     * DrCross is shocked (again) of Raith's crazyness and tactlessness
[09:16:54 PM] <Raith>   ::Pulls himself together with an effort::
[09:17:24 PM] <Raith>   ::Stands up, a half smile on his face looking at 'Dr. Lambert'::
[09:19:45 PM] <Raith>   "Sir, all due respect, but what the frak kinda carpetbagger are you trying to saddle me with here? The ADF didn't make meaningful contact with intelligent alien life until a few months ago. What kind of credentials does Dr. Lambert boast in light of that?"
[09:20:57 PM] <bynw>   *the admiral smiles* "He has all the theory needed to be an expert. and what he can tell us is what is and what is not alien."
[09:21:35 PM] <bynw>   *admiral* "open the case and show them doctor"
[09:21:50 PM] <Raith>   ::Takes a seat with a shake of his hea::

[09:22:03 PM]     * DrCross mulls over the word "theory"
[09:22:53 PM] <bynw>   *the doctor opens the small case he brought in with him. within its padded confines lies what appears to be a human skull*
[09:23:56 PM] <Raith>   ::Doesn't look impressed::
[09:24:35 PM] <bynw>   *Doctor Lambert* "This skull was brought back by the exploritory team, along with radioactive soil samples from the world they discovered."
[09:25:32 PM] <bynw>   *doctor lambert* "we have dated the skull to be over 2000 years old."
[09:26:00 PM] <Raith>   ::Looks impressed, and curious. He smiles::
[09:26:35 PM] <Sathara>   "Human, or just humanoid?"
[09:28:26 PM] <bynw>   *doctor* "And we ran several DNA tests on it to confirm its origin. without a doubt the skull does not belong to a human appearing alien like our two friends in this room. the DNA matches show perfectly that the skull belongs to a human male, of around 40-50 years old, who died of radiation poisoning and was from Aris."

[09:30:10 PM] <bynw>   *Admiral* "On a world more than 200 light years from our frontier. in completely uncharted space."
[09:31:02 PM] <Raith>   "You run the skull through a digital scan and map flesh to it in a digital simulation?"
[09:32:26 PM] <bynw>   *Doctor Lambert* "You seem to have some advanced medical knowledge yourself Major Raith. Yes we ran every test we could to confirm it. First thinking it was a hoax of somekind so we specifically went to debunk it."
[09:33:36 PM] <Sathara>   "How in the flying hell did a human skull end up out there?"
[09:33:38 PM] <Raith>   "Oh it's not debunking it I'm talking about Doctor."
[09:34:10 PM] <Raith>   "Only one person I know would be out there. Times are wrong but..."
[09:34:18 PM] <bynw>   "We had to, in order to be certain of our find." *the doctor replies*
[09:34:42 PM] <Raith>   "That Raith prime?" ::points to the skull::
[09:37:03 PM] <bynw>   *the doctor and admiral both look puzzled*
[09:38:30 PM] <Raith>   "Doctor you'll want to take a DNA sample of myself and Jaeih. You'll see we share some DNA. Stack that DNA up against the DNA you found in this skull."
[09:38:57 PM]     * Sathara cuts Raith an odd, speculative look.
[09:39:28 PM] <Raith>   "It sounds crazy I know, but who else would be that far out in space?"
[09:39:48 PM] <Raith>   "I'm not saying it's him, just that I'd like to know if it is."
[09:39:58 PM] <bynw>   "I am most curious how you think that you can be related to an alien species we just discovered and be related to a man now dead for over 2000 years"
[09:40:07 PM] <Sathara>   "How in hell would it be 2000 years old and be Raith Prime?"
[09:40:17 PM] <bynw>   *the doctor remarks while giving a look to the admiral*
[09:40:34 PM] <DrCross>   "Could it be?" DrCross thinks
[09:41:33 PM] <Raith>   "A few months ago they said it was impossible to enter hyperspace. Now we know that's not true. You going to tell me time travel isn't possible either?"
[09:42:18 PM] <Raith>   "Or that the Klade haven't been aware of us much longer then they are telling us perhaps?"

[09:45:43 PM] <bynw>   *The doctor pulls out a small laser scalple to obtain a sample from both Raith and Jaeih ... putting them through a small portable medical kit* "This wont be 100% accurate, given the more primative conditions for running this test."
[09:46:39 PM] <Raith>   ::Cooperates and sits back trying to control his curiosity:: "Raith Prime did disappear...."
[09:46:55 PM] <Raith>   "Even the Klade don't know where."
[09:47:27 PM] <Raith>   "maybe, just maybe it's when not where."
[09:47:31 PM]     * Sathara raises an eyebrow.  "You think he time-traveled?"
[09:48:11 PM] <bynw>   *after a few minutes the doctors look has become both puzzled and surprised at the findings he sees*
[09:48:11 PM] <Raith>   ::Shrugs:: "Or another clone of him."
[09:48:27 PM] <Sathara>   "This is getting way weird, Cap'n."
[09:48:55 PM]     * Sathara mutters under her breath.  "Way frakkin' weird."
[09:49:23 PM] <bynw>   "It's incredible ... " *he says* "you two ARE related. Her DNA is half human, and its a near match for the Major. Like siblings."
[09:50:51 PM] <bynw>   *the Admiral takes on a more command posture* "Major who is 'Raith prime', the donor of your clone material?"
[09:50:58 PM] <Raith>   "We are doctor. Still feel like an 'expert'?" ::chuckles at the retorical question::
[09:51:59 PM] <Raith>   "Yes sir. And Jaeih's father. And the initial contacting human to the Klade."
[09:52:06 PM] <bynw>   *doctor lambert* "he is a clone but she isn't. i see the traces that confirm the copied dna sequences. but its unlike any clone i've ever seen."
[09:53:03 PM] <bynw>   *the admiral blinks for a moment* "No wonder they were so easily brought into the Alliance. They must have prepared for this, for years."
[09:53:21 PM] <Raith>   ::smiles at the admiral:: "Yes, sir."
[09:53:37 PM] <Sathara>   "Jaeih, just out of curiosity, how old are you?"
[09:53:51 PM] <Sathara>   "Actually, how long ago was it when Raith Prime  disappeared from your home?"
[09:54:08 PM] <bynw>   "However Major. There is no connection between you or her and this skull. it's not a match at all."
[09:54:30 PM] <Raith>   ::to the Admiral:: "It was 'need to know' information and you where deemed not to need to know by....other ADF personel."
[09:55:34 PM] <bynw>   *Jaeih* "He left nearly 40 years ago from our homeworld."
[09:55:34 PM] <Raith>   ::Looks a bit disappointed at the doctor::

[09:58:27 PM] <bynw>   *Admiral* "Understood. Once your ship is ready, you will be given the coordinates to this world taking Doctor Lambert with you. And conducting a very detailed survey of it."
[09:59:34 PM] <Sathara>   "With some serious radiation gear, I hope."
